Should we have one?
Say you like a track in WIP thread, ask the creator of said track for remix pack in this thread? download links etc then for anyone who wants to take part
then post WIPs (if desired) back in WIP thread ?
Or...
have a monthly thing whereby one forum-ite posts their track parts for remix and others remix it?
maybe we wouldnt get enough people to participate, i dunno |

Seems like a great idea to me. I love hearing other people's improved versions of my crap songs. :)
I don't think that it needs to be a monthly thing, though. I'd personally prefer that, anytime somebody has a track they'd like remixed, they just post a link to the original and ask for interested remixers, or just post a link to the remix pack and let people grab it if they're interested.
I think the thread should have a few guidelines, though, such as what to include in the remix pack, how to credit the song, etc. |

Yeah, I wasn't really thinking "rules", per se, but maybe just some guidelines. Just a thought, but whatever. :) |

yeah guidelines defo, we dont want remix packs with just a kick and a hat :happy2:
im not sure do we want loads of music in here? was thinking to keep all the music solely in the WIP thread, we dont want 2 camps :)
so something like this for a shot at guidelines
1. Remix pack will contain at least ...(tbd)
2. Post music in WIP thread - except previews of original track for remix (?)
3. ... |

| It doesn't have to be much, just a short clip so you know what you're getting. It doesn't have to be mandatory, but it would be preferable. |

I'd be up for this and think it's a great idea.
I wouldn't limit it too much, just think about all those famous tracks that were actually a remix, and quite removed from the original.
From an engineering standpoint, I reckon is essential to have all the tracks (not stems) as well as a dry master bounce and an fx bounce track. It saves so much time in the long run. Ideally the midi tracks would also be available but I sup pose that's not a deal breaker unless something is actually wrong (i.e. notes off or not quantized correctly?) |
