I know, I know. But it does sound like he's made a genuine effort to follow in the footsteps of This Binary Universe. There's a similar combination of vast ambience, glitchy swerves and twists, and bass kicks that could fracture concrete. Halfway through my first listen, I'm not sure it's anywhere near as good, but it took a good few listens for TBU to really blossom.
Be warned, however, BT's penchant for pretentious wankery has reached some kind of apotheosis on this record. The album is called "_" and is themed around some preposterous compositional schemata that nobody will care about. Do yourself a favour and skip the press release.
Anyway, here's the first track, or suite of tracks (it actually breaks down into 19 sub-tracks on the tracklist, all with Italian subtitles. I did warn you):

Thanks for the heads up. I will give it a listen. I had given up on him completely.

Don't expect anything spectacular. It's missing a lot of the cross-genre pollination that made TBU interesting. There's no post-rock here, no jazz, no modern classical. If I were to draw comparisons, I'd say it is to TBU what the new Avalanches album is to Since I Left You - a recognisable sibling, but merely a "solid" listen rather than anything spectacular.

I'm not sure I want to listen to this. BT used to be my hero.
A long, long time ago.
I'm scared.

Be advised though that this release contains only a small portion of the full release, which is coming in December. You may want to think of this as a teaser or the first of a suite of music to come. According to BT himself, the full physical release contains 2.5 hours of music - this release contains only 45 minutes, having only 3 of the 9 tracks present on the full release. Edit: I received confirmation from BT himself (or whoever runs his official facebook page) that the other 6 tracks on the physical release will not be made available as separate digital releases.
