i can't listen to male vocals in EDM. I honestly don't really know why. It just never works uness they are pitched way down and played at a gay bar. But since i don't go to gay bars ... ya. Rapping is ok i guess. But these male vocal pop tracks disguised as EDM make me really uncomfortable.

Not a fan of male vocals myself, but I don't think a female singer could've made this track even more of a tune.

to ammend my previous post , if the vocalist is a funk male ala jamiroquai. its all good in the hood. But this sort of pop ballad sound in EDM is just terrible to me. Like some tween boy band guy is whispering in my ear.

You're confusing syncopation with time. Try counting the bars like you normally would while mixing. You'll see that the tune fits with any other 4/4 tune.

Well, in that case you should like the Classical remix as it's not a dance track. I think it's more likely you don't like male vocals in general.

male vocals are fine. I just don't like them in dance music specifically. EDM to be more specific. There is something homoerotic about it. The problem is the context and the quality of the tone. I also dislike the instrumental but that is only because the track is pretty much irrelevent given how generic it is. I would listen to something better. I can see how 16 year old gay kids that haven't suffered the persecution of their previous generation looking for a male voice to make them feel something might find them nice. That isn't me.
I don't mind it in other dance music say hip hop or disco... When you have boy band vocal tones in music that is for dancing , primal human activity, it just feels wrong for me. Raining men has less of a -gay twinkie on a stripper riser dancing as you would expect- vibe than say raining men. If you remixed that track and used some current EDM male singer, well now you have attained twink level 99

what he is conflating as meter is hypermeter which is an elongated polyrythm over the main music. The rhodes part ain't in 6/4. If you just had that rhodes and nothing else, i suppose you would notate it as 6/1. But because you have that over a track that is 4/4 , you would notate it in 4/4
maybe just change the title of the thread to interesting rhythmic vibe or counterpoints. or signature
