I think that IS Seattle. And Tacoma. Likely its own City-State, what with having all that tech-industry, Amazon, Microsoft, and Starbucks wealth. |

Ah, makes sense. Didn't see the dot representing Seattle, so I assumed Bellingham was the new name or something. It seems the Denver metropolitan area also gets to be a (mega)City-State.
Also, it's a bit weird the rest of Cascadia would just kick Seattle out of the country (and Seattle would lose the opportunity to have so much influence on the rest of the region)... but then, it's their fault for giving the world Grey's Anatomy, so the ban is deserved. |

That is the nation-state of Seattle, part of the UCAS....I forget the convoluted backstory that explain why that is, but it makes for Seattle being a great place to have your character and story based, since their is so much going on (kind of like Berlin when it was divided after WW2). |

You can tell that map is from a different time, because it assumes the northern States would still want anything to do with Appalachian States like W. Virginia, and Kentukianasyvania.
(edit: much less Southern Ontario) |

Oh, that makes a lot more sense than just kicking the poor city out :D Unless this parallel universe takes into account Grey's Anatomy. I stand by what I said!
Edit: I'm now reading about Shadowrun... Trippy :p
Edit 2: Three dragons are supposed to take Brasília in 2034. Come on, I'll just have retired by then, can't we postpone this?! |

The first edition of Shadowrun was published in 1989 |

Calexit will never happen, it's just an amusing thing that gets thrown around when someone challenges the most populous and economically powerful state.
If it did somehow happen, it would signal the end if the "United states" , as all the redneck states would secede in a heartbeat (for obvious reasons).
Looks like California is going to play hard ball with the orange clown... |

| It's too bad we'd have to say goodbye to California and all the awesome Californians we know, just so we can get rid of you. :/ |
