TA DJ's! - Bedroom Sessions V (TA Radio 2.0)

Hello TA DJ's and resident pelvic thrusters. I may have found a solution to our lack of TA Radio.
https://studio.radio.co/stations/sa05c43079
1) If you use Traktor, just click the LIVE information on the station after you sign up, copy the server/port/password and paste into the Broadcast section of your preferences.
2) You can only broadcast if you have scheduled a slot, so be sure to do that anytime you want to play.
3) After you have a slot, click the Broadcast button in Traktor and you're good to go!
I'm actually able to upload up to 20GB of music, so this station could potentially be running 24/7 with TA DJ sets.
I'm actually on the 7 day free trial and then it's $49 USD/month going forward. If this turns into a thing that people like and want to use, then I will pay it and accept PayPal donations to pay for the station. If this turns out to not be a thing and nobody cares, then I'll let it die and we will have to find another solution for TA Radio.
Comment below with any suggestions, thoughts, insults, sexual innuendos, anything :gsmile:

This is actually a great idea but you need to post it in the DJ forum, MD forum, and Production Studio to get this going.
Also, a lot of good things have come from TA ideas like this (even whole released albums of just TA material) but it takes time. There's no way this is going to fly within that 7 day trial period. I'd give it a month, or see if a few of us will club together to drop in $5 each a month to pay for it. |

| I think the problem is that nobody really hangs around here anymore where they would tune in and listen. People want to listen to music on their own time. This would be expensive to keep operational and not sure it would be worth it. |

This. I loved playing on the radio back in the day (a few years ago?) and loved listening to both you and others, but I just feel like TA is no longer at the point where it is economically viable =/ |

Well apparently there's 600+ online right now, 80 of them being registered members and the rest lurking guests. Add that to some social media (FB, IG etc) and you've probably got a larger base than most interest radio stations. If it were running all the time (people in differnt time zones doing mixes) anyone could tune in when they want.
It's not exactly going to be bustling but I used to work in radio and trust me when I say that come commercially viable stations have listnerships in the very low thousands.
It's just how it is with all the choice now; allegedly 85% of the Guardian's online content has virtually no views whatsoever. It's the other 15% that keeps them afloat. |

Perhaps one must consider the idea of weekly/monthly shows, promotion, and other such ways of directing viewer's eyes to the radio station. Shoutcast is obviously a cheaper solution for someone willing to host, but that is less of a radio station and more of an audio stream that only plays music when someone is currently live.
This could be a real thing if it was promoted with regular DJ's and had stockpiles of TA DJ mixes so that there is always music playing. At this point though, I would want to get admins & moderators involved to help with management of the radio interface (which is rather user friendly and convenient).
Such a thing would take a financial investment of a few months and some sort of planning. If the numbers are good and enough people are tuning in during live shows/listening during idle hours then it could be worth continuing.
I mean, otherwise, what is Tranceaddict really? A bunch of burnt out ravers who continue trolling this site for the luls?.... well, that's correct actually but doesn't mean we can't have a reasonably reliable site sponsored radio station. |

| Maybe we could have some Google Hangouts or something similar to talk about stuff in electronic music on the radio as well? I have no earthly idea about how you would set all of that up from a technical standpoint, though. |

Yeah unfortunately it doesn't look like there is built-in chat on this software. Back when Ian and Chrissy used to be more active there was an IRC channel (maybe still around?) for the radio and discussion. Google Hangouts sounds fine too.
I loaded up a bunch of various mixes (some old ones) to play on repeat while we get this figured out. Some stuff from myself, Jack Moss, KilldaDJ, Ted Promo, bas, Mr Mystery, and Atmospheric Energy. I'll looking at uploading even more. But for right now you can listen to this station and hear a variety of stuff. |
