Word is there was a shooting at blue parrot. 5 dead

Supposed dispute with club security, 3 dead are security.

Got a feeling this is gonna hit bpm hard, I didnt like how things were "ran" when I was there.

I would assume this has something to do with extortion or narcotics, simply an assumption.

i was more concerned of getting extorted by the local authorities when I was there. Have close friends whom this has happened ronin playa and Cancun over the past few years.

Damn shame though what happened.

I'm not surprised, the government is controlled by these cartels. Mexico is the last place I ever want to go. It's a shame.

Not saying Mexico isn't without its problems, many of which the United States has a major role in manifesting itself and responsibility to start fixing, but it's the last place you'd ever want to go? Really? It's a shame, you know. Most Americans have that perspective and will never travel here because of it. It's so damn close and cheap. It's a magical place to travel through if you aren't a dummy and open yourself up to the people. It's not all narcos and nefarious stereotypes.

As for rumors that BPM might leave for good, I think of it as a blessing for the communities that have been impacted by the festival - at least from what people have told me. It provides an economic boost, yea, but it allegedly does more damage nowadays and people aren't game for it anymore. It felt like it had finally run its course this year anyway, and with its expansion to Portugal and Brazil, it's easy for the festival to walk away from Mexico now.

i agree 100%. The thing I didn't like about bpm is how the illegal activities were going down. It was so out in the open that its very easy for one group to see what another group is doing. When stuff is so open it's easy for people recognize people who aren't "allowed" to be in a Certian spot or just hate. On top of that the fact that you have officials allowing certian people to do things and others not to. This causes disagreements and it was eventually gonna lead up to this with all the money involved.

I said years ago after I went that I didn't feel comfortable partying there because of what I seen and how my Mexican friends explained it all to me. This was only a matter of time before this happened

I mean't for partying at an EDM event due to the ty types it will bring, not the country as a whole. I've been to Cozumel to just hang out at the beach & bars an ddid some snorkeling. Had a blast.
