Davis grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and was turned on to house music at an early age by the likes of Lil' Louis, DJ Pierre, Farley Keith (Farley Jackmaster Funk) & Marshall Jefferson. Davis began his own production company named Phuture in the late 1980s and went on to become an A&R scout for record label Strictly Rhythm in NYC whilst also running his Chicago founded record label Undaground Therapy Muzik. A few years later Roy Davis and singer-songwriter Peven Everett wrote and produced the single "Gabriel" which was released on Large Records and later licensed and released on XL Recordings in 1996. The track garnered international airplay, and was played in nightclubs around the world. It peaked at #22 in the UK Singles Chart in November 1997.[1] The single sold over 200,000 copies, and has appeared on numerous of compilation albums including Desert Island Mix from Gilles Peterson and continues to be a pioneering record in the history of Garage & House music. Roy Davis Jr., has also been known for his work for Daft Punk's label Roulè which operated out of Paris in the early 90's and also his production work for artists Eric Benet / Faith Evans, Mary J Blige, Seal, Patti LaBelle, Christina Milian and Morcheeba.
TRICKY MOREIRA
It’s no doubt that Tricky Moreira is one of Toronto’s legendary house music DJs & Producers. Since the early 90’s he has been slaying house music from underground warehouse parties to mainstream club events. In 2002 Tricky was called upon to DJ and Host the decade-long 'This House Radio Show' on FLOW 93.5FM, leading to syndicated radio shows in Russia, France, Germany, & the UK. The show was internationally acclaimed and opened a whole new generation to this thing called House. Tricky’s song “Together” on Blue Elephant Recordings solidified his production talents, and a song that many consider a staple in the house music genre. To date, Moreira has over a ten awards in Broadcastings, DJ’ing, and Producing including a Canadian JUNO Awards Nomination. Moreira’s technical knowledge and ability to manipulate music and sounds through turntable tactics, programming, music production, and vocal arrangements in dance music has enabled him to be recognized worldwide for his talents, and keeps him on the top list of DJs to grace the scene.

The DJ/Production duo known as Strange City & Tele are a rare and unique offering to the Toronto electronic music scene. Their backgrounds in Hip Hop and Drum n' Bass were brought together with a common love for deep house and after countless late nights spent in the studio experimenting with sound, the the two formed a very close musical bond. In late 2015 the duo started a promotion company named People+Culture and since joining forces they have already made some incredible strides as well as staging some really cool parties. In 2017, the duo show no signs of slowing down with some unique booking announcements, exciting collaborations and original work set for release. Keep a close eye on these guys as they will surely be a DJ/production team you will not want to miss!
