I just discovered this album a week ago. I really like the album, specifically draghixia and satyricon ("why aren't these on the reissue?" seems to be a common complaint about it, and I agree).
A recent artist, Deniro(Tape Records Amsterdam) has a similar sound in some of his tracks, and I like most of what he has released. I browsed part of 100% Pure Catalog on discogs, and found an artist named Jerome, which I also liked.
I read or saw in an interview that some people thought the Sterac records came out of Detroit at that time, so I looked into some of the older Detroit techno artists briefly (Robert Hood - a little too minimal, though I like nighttime music vol 2, Jeff Mills - too hard, Juan Atkins - good, though not as "nice" sounding as Sterac). For reference, I also like some of the Northern Electronics techno, Hypnus, Silent Season, Amandra, Asc.
Anyone have recommendations of artists with a similar techno style to Sterac?
Thanks! |

Yeah, the early Sterac stuff is very much in that dutch detroit-techno style, if you dig around Eeevo Lute and all the related labels and artists, you'll find a ton of stuff. There's also a ton of that kinda stuff on New Electronica, mainly compilations. You'll probably also like mid 90s Dave Angel, there's a lot of detroit-y UK stuff from that era that you'll probably like.
I really like Deniro but I think he's more influenced by the late 90s/early 2000s Sterac stuff which is very Hood-ish. It's a sound that I'm also kinda obsessed by. |

Thank you guys for the recommendations. Greatly appreciated! I will check these out this week.
By the way, last weekend I was driving on the freeway while listening to the Sterac album and I really felt in awe by the music. I am glad that it is still fresh and new to me right now. :) |
