TA TUDO DOMINADO !
guys i head this style is waaaaaaay popular in Brazil , is it true ? what does it sound like ? is it true there is TOO MUCH violence in places where this play this kind of music ?
here's a small description i took from Ishkur.com
"The infamous Rio Funk Ball music, which kind of sounds a lot like Miami Bass, only with Portuguese yelling and raps. The street ghettos of Rio de Janeiro are the setting of this ed up movement in which impoverished youths beat each other to a bloody pulp while listening to this music in insane pseudo-rave type gatherings (Funk Balls) that behave more like anarchic Fight Clubs than plurry love-ins. Girls gouge out each other's eye sockets with high heels. Guys gang up and pulverize the weak. Deaths are not uncommon. Man....and I thought I was hardcore for hurling rotting meat at people at one party." |

Yeah, this is very, very, very popular here, specially in Rio de Janeiro (hence the name :p). There are plenty of sub-genres like Rio Tekno-funk and Rio Comedy Funk :)
When I read Ishkur's description I was like: "OMG, he was there!", because in Rio slums, this is exactly what you see... it's really sad :( However, we shouldn't generalise it, since there's no problem when they play it at clubs and stuff. The problem in the slums has got more to do with their social problems than with the music itself.
If you want, I'll try to get some Rio Funk for you and send this weekend. Also, I'm preparing a more complete version of Ishkur's guide and I'll add some Rio funk there.
PS.: Don't worry if you don't understand the lyrics - I don't understand most of the words myself :D |

Sure :D Although I'm trying not to over-use flash (so it'll be better for those who have 56kb modems :)). |

Most tunes are very funny indeed. Actually, there are 3 types of Rio funk:
1) Funny: people produce the tune just for fun. The lyrics are too damn stupid and it's impossible for anyone to take them seriously
2) Porn: I don't really like these. Since Rio Funk is a popular genre here, it's really sad to hear children singing stuff like "I'm gonna cum into your throat and bite your nipples" :whip:
3) Instrumental: Er... no lyrics :D |

| jaja, the funniest ones are the porn-obscene songs. Those lyrics crack me up. We have the same thing going on in Puerto Rico, I don't think it's a big deal, just part of urban culture. |
