It'll take a long time before trance becomes mainstream, I agree. I mean how many people are on tranceaddict. I bet a huge percentage of the world's trance enthusiasts are on or have been on this site.

trance is too PURE, there are no cheap GIMMICKS, like with teenie pop or other types music, have you ever seen Armin or PVD wearing a band aid on their faces b/c they want to be cool or tough? do you ever hear trance artists talk about how they were in a gang and been in and out of jail? trance artists don't carry guns around, and show 75% of their fake , they are just ordinary guys who loves trance music, no gimicks, guns or band aids on their faces, and besides it takes too much of imagination and inteligence to listen to trance, there's no lyrics to tell little girls how much they love them or how them won't break little girls' hearts, so trance is not ment for general public it's only for people with inteligence and a good imagination.
I have no worry of trance ever being destroy be mainstream media anytime soon. anybody here agree with me?

lol, that was funny as hell to me man. i agree 100%.

band aids on the face lolololol

Oh man just thinking about TRANCE going mainstreme makes me shudder! Imagine meeting someone you knew in school who labelled trance as too repetitive, boring, or made only for gino's, and then seeing them driving down some street playing some tiesto track going "yeah i've always loved this type of music" (just because it has become more widely accepted). oh man that makes me sick......SERIOUSLY! and also MAD!!

I think that as long as money doesn't become too important to trance producers and DJs, it will stay away from the mainstream. There are great innovators who work in this genre and there will always be artists who introduce new sounds and keep it fresh. Trance will evolve in the future as it has in the past, hence "progressive." If it does become "commercial," that manifestation will be left behind while the sound changes into something new and underground.

For me, music is NOT mainstream as long as it is somewhat "demanding" on the ear. This is why we don't hear Opera and Classical on the Top 40 charts. I find that most "non-mainstream" trance is complex enough to stand on it's own.

Music is very dynamic and there will always be good music to listen to.

I could be wrong though. :)

The only benefit of it becoming mainstream in the US would be easier access to seeing DJ's.
Other than that, it would just suck, once things go mainstream, especially in the US, they just suck, everything starts getting crappy.

Amen brotha. Most people here in the US have little to no knowledge about electronic music. The media would give a totally false image of electronic music, and destroy the very heart of it. Worst of all, the people would believe it. Gotta love the media here in the US :disbelief

1.) Learn how to spell (or is yourself spelled "ureself" in the US?)
2.) Dont call me an ass.....you can lick my ass if you choose to, but please dont call me one.
3.)I am in America (North America) and trance IS mainstream where i live. Go to the clubs, in the "mainstream" rooms you hear nothing but cheesy trance (zombie nation, heaven, etc.) It might not be the type of trance that i enjoy, but its trance nontheless. Just the word "trance" alone has become mainstream in record stores all over the world. Record companies are putting "trance" on all of these gay ass compilations, using the word alone to sell more records.

But to answer your original question (and yes i did read it correctly) no, trance will never become as popular on the radio as rock or rap. Rock is too old of a genre and has way too much of an interest for it to ever die. And rap, well raps commercial success is due to the over welming amount of rich white kids in America buying the albums so they can be so called "thugs" like Eminem. Trance, for the most part is strictly beats, and the tracks that do become mainstream have catchy lyrics so chances are not too good.

When i said "it already has" i was refering to all aspects, not just on the radio. To prove my point even more......ever seen the Mitsubishi commercials!?!? They feature 2 trance songs and guess what??? Mitsubishi sales in North America have almost doubled since theyve been released. So check "ureself" next time you call someone an ass, or you may end up making yourself look like one.
