URGENT: Speaker Master Headphone Monitor Setup with 1 sound card (VTT)

how does the whole headphone monitor setup thing work
VTTs main attraction is supposed to be able to monitor 1 song in headphones while playing another in speakers with an Audio Doohicky (stereo channel splitter)
when i use an Audio Doohicky, one song is in one ear, and the other in the remaining one... all very good, but it just so happens one song is in one speaker and the other in the remaining one... how do i get it so the playing track is in the speakers and the other track in my phonez?
the same thing happens with Traktor, and i think youre supposed to be able to do it correctly with traktor as well...

With VTT and Traktor, the sound for the headphones is in one channel (not sure if its the left or right) and the speaker output is in the other chanel.
The audio dohicky just splits the channels, so one jack is the left and the other is the right. so from the audio dohicky one plug will go into your headfones, the other will go to your stero system.

you probably have the wrong kind of audio doohickey.
sounds like you have one that simply splits the stereo sound into two stereo pairs.
what you need is one that splits the left channel to one side, and the right to the other side.
You can get them at radio shack or whereever, but those two things usually look exactly the same.
tell the guy you want it to seperate the stereo signal into 2 mono ones, and he will give you the right adapter. |
