lol that's cool as . I fantasize about living off the grid in a cabin, would be sick. |
Dad wired it and put a solar panel on the roof and a couple of batteries up in the loft area. I can take my little 13" Asus Zenbook and a 128GB thumb drive over there and have a ton of HD movies (I rip and transcode my own Blu-rays and DVDs). |

| That's awesome, I wonder how much it cost him to build it but you don't have to answer that. |

If I had to guess, it's about $10,000. |

No, lol, unfortunately no basement. This entire county is resting on limestone. It would have doubled the cost to put in a basement...maybe more. He dug the footer by hand, and I helped him mix and pour some of the concrete. He used some of the rocks he removed to build the little retaining walls around the streams that flow behind it.
The bodies are in the loft area, JP. :o |

| I was gonna say, a good basement foundation is kind of costly, I would have been doubled the impressed, but I am impressed nonetheless it looks very neat, the deck is dope. |

My dad is one of the most talented people I know. He's never done carpentry for a living (he has an undergrad in biology, a master's in education), and other than a brief stint in teaching/administration, he was an Oracle and SQL DB programmer for 30 years. But he build that cabin bottom to top, and it's better built and more "square" than most "professional" built homes. But, he is patient and has great attention to detail. If he didn't know how to do something, he'd Google or YouTube it, and after a few tries, he had mastered it. I love that place. The inside has pine paneling, and it smells soooo good when you walk in. The clothes I wear over there come home with that pine smell, and I often want to delay washing them, lol. |
