I am new to the Los Angeles area. Anyone from LA have any suggestions on some cool dance clubs? I have been to Giant a few times already and went to the Mayan to see Tiesto (what a GREAT time!). Any other ideas?
Thanks! ;o)

giant is the only good one right now. all the others suck!!! well all the 21 and over. supposedly the 18 and over clubs are actually more laid back. there are too many fake people here in LA that i know i dont want to be in the same club with. i havent gone to giant yet but i cant wait. i dont go to any clubs cause the vibe is not cool at all and i dont like that. also when the vibe is not good it can cause the dj not to be good. so i say your best bet is to stick with giant and buy your tickets online. you dont have to wait in line to get in. and sometimes i hear giant gets so bad that some people stand in line and never get in. especially now that its summer. but enjoy it here in LA there are small lil rave parties you can find going on that are usually pretty dope. just go too www.ravelinks.com and look under socal events.

Thanks for the info! I will check out ravelinks.com for future events.
I unfortunately didn't have tickets for giant the last time I went and although I got in, there were still people waiting in line when we left the club! It was crazy!

Thanks again!

I've heard of the palace before. Maybe i'll give it a try, sometime. :) Has anyone heard of that new club opening up called Traffic?

where i live in la, the clubs are crap, too much hip hop, the only good party is the one u make urself. that's all i have to say.
club music in la is like an ass. the left cheek is techno, the right cheek is hip-hop, the crack is house.

Well...Giant was definantly the spot in LA to see good talent. Oakey, PvD, Jules, Tong, and the such have spun there and many more. The vibe is usually pretty good and the sound is awesome.....I've been many a times and usually leave very happy...

Yeah...the lines are pretty bad, but if you get the presale tix, you can just walk right in. No fuss, no muss, no bull. And once you get it, you find it completely worth it. How many other clubs guarantee you a spot to see your favourite DJ without having to *risk* waiting in line ......

21 and over.....whether that's good or bad depends on you...

As for the other clubs, I wish them success...but most have tried to copy Giant and have failed. Funktion looked promising but didn't last two months. There are some other clubs that are opening...and I wish them the best.

Afterhours at the Palace are suposed to be good. I've never personally been, but Ferry Corsten and Armin have spun at some of the afterhour parties thrown there. But you have to make sure of which party is going on at the Palace on any given night.....

Now...for the other half of the story

Giant recently lost their contract to throw their club at the Circus (which is the venue they have been using). Spundae productions (who run clubs at 1015 Folsom in San Francisco) are now the promoters for Saturday nights at the Circus. To add even more to this story, Giant is moving to another location.

So...

That means, that we'll have two good clubs in LA. Finally! Some competition. I'd like to see where Giant winds up and how Spundae does on Saturday nights...

Wow! Thanks for all of the info, JeffCee! I look forward to Spundae on Saturday nights as well!

Thanks again!

I can't say much about the clubs in L.A. but if you're in the Hollywood area, check out 100.7 on the fm dial. It's an all trance (usually)and no commercials station that a couple of friends of mine own and operate. The best reception is the area between Hollywood & Silverlake. I do a lot of one and two hour set for them but you'll mainly hear all your favs (PVD, Tiesto, Oakenfold, Irish, Sasha.... etc.). We were doin' an internet stream (and will be again) but thanks to Northpoint, PacBell and the downfall of many ISPs, right now we're in the process of tryin' to hook up with a reliable ISP that can provide us with good up speed so we can put out a good quality stream.
(more on that as the situation develops).
So, if any TAs here are interested in submitting a good mixed set (anywhere between 30 min. and 2 hours.....1 hour sets are usually the best) feel free to contact me. Be aware of two things, though. 1: There's no mention of who's set is on (except for the occasional interrupts from Pete Tong during "essential mixes"...we're working on editing those out, too.) And....2: There's absolutely no $$ involved. We don't make a penny from any of this (we spend a lot of them keeping it going, though) It's all for the sake of TRANCE. (and for the sake of not having to listen to radio DJ chatter, Britney Spiers, rap, Back Street Boys.....you get the picture)

giant = our superclub, great place
the mayan = gets alot of big names
red = gets names like donald glaude and dj micro
technoclub = allages, renamed to vitamin E ..they closed because they got raided for selling E.. anyways
florentine gardens = good clubs, they have "the matrix" which was a good clubnight.. loads of mexican doods there, lotsa drugs..lotsa booze.

lots and lots of massives and raves to hitup.. there are some commercial clubs like the boom boom room, and the viper, and some others, sponsored by radio stations n ..b ut they suck..

the mayan has alot of good nights like strata. raves are the place to be for a great vibe and awsome headliners though..
