One thing I want to know, and Jake you and I have hung out multiple times, is why people and their online personas can be so vastly different? You and I both behave on the internet the same way we behave IRL. So why is it acceptable that Nou behaves(d?) like a immature but he's cool enough in person to where none of that matters?
To me, he would have to be very significantly different in person in order for me to even consider that perhaps he was projecting some kind of character in an effort to entertain himself. I've met a few people that were super cool in person but complete s on the internet. I don't know what the purpose is of separating one's identity like that. And I'm not talking alts, I'm talking genuine online personas. |

Anonymity and the lack of tangible consequences, IMO. Unless you're breaking a law, there are often zero real-world consequences for peoples actions online.

I don't defend how he acts here. I met him through TA but before he started trolling, so my opinion of him formed before that. By the time he started acting like a royal cunt around here, I knew him well enough that I was able to just ignore that . Say what you will about my own character/judgement because of that.
While we're on the subject of IRL vs. online personas...

It is, however, someone trying to trick us into thinking it is him. Given how good Nou is with scripts and whatnot, I believe he'd been much more subtle posting code and whatnot. |
