Amazingly enough, it is! Set to be one of the hottest May bank holidays on record. |
Now that's an unexpected turn, didn't see it one coming :p

The down side is that I'm almost completely out of ideas on what to read now. |
When in doubt, read Hegel. You'll find something else to read in minutes :D |

Good man. It's a "semi-historical" fiction in that the Hamilton family, one of the families central to the story, is John's maternal lineage. I am not sure if the other central family, the Trask family, is based in reality. |
I've actually read some really cool "semi-historical" fiction by Neal Stephenson. Cryptonomicon was excellent, and then he did a three book series, The Baroque Cycle. Check them out if you're into that sort of thing. He might actually be my favourite author. |

I've been reading on my Kindle a lot more lately. It's so much cheaper, more reliable, and more efficient for books not in English.

Or you'll be asleep. |

Or that, yeah! :toothless
Wait, does everyone have a Kindle? I can't be the only person on Earth with a Kobo :p |
|

| I've never even heard of a Kobo :p |

Yeah, Wienerschnitzel once mentioned she (or her daughter) had one, but it was the only time I saw the name written in English. Ever. Rakuten's Kobo entered the Brazilian market first, and it was sold by a physical bookshop (Livraria Cultura), so they made more sense in the context. Also, you can add pirate books in it quite easily, and I was a broke student :p

That's the one I have, next to a Kindle for comparison. |

Cool, so basically the same thing :p
I seem to have zero issues putting pirated books on my Kindle :conf: I have the paperback Game of Thrones books and decided I wanted digital copies, so I grabbed them off TPB and used Calibre e-book manager to send them via USB to the Kindle. |

Wait, you used Calibre and... that's it? It is the same thing then :p
Back in the day when I got mine, I read that Kindle was extremely harsh with copyright, and reading pirated books was a lot of hassle. I do know for a fact Amazon's audiobook service (Audible) is so annoying I couldn't use it with those generic 10 dollar mp3 players, and had to get a proper iPod to use the service.
Kobo's "advantage" was also that you could stick a MicroSD thingy in it and store more books, but I got carried away and after I loaded a couple of thousand books, the sheer volume of pages seems to have brought the reader to a halt, so I narrowed down to a dozen books or so :D |

| Yeah cool, fair enough. I only started using a Kindle last year, so I dunno if they've done away with the DRM or just the people ripping the books are talented at it or whatever :p |

In order to beat Kobo's DRM, I have to resize the cover of all my books, actually, so I guess you have it easier now. All praise the marvels of technology!

Speaking of things to read... this was the best thing I read while you were gone:

I procrastinated most of the time, you see. |
