some pretty wicked tracks in here, enough to get me off the post rock mainline and fire up my old self of looking through beatport to top up an itch that hasn't been scratched.

The tracklist actually looks pretty good. I had it in my head that these guys made ty Beatport Top 100 "tech house", but it seems they play some stuff that's up my street. I'll give this a listen in full and report back.

yeah i thought the same, i thought they were kinda one hit wonder with Cola.
theres def parts in the mix so far that ive run into where its like "oh ok, top 100 crap" then they hit you with something way out the wheelhouse, makes it seem like theres a bit of an identity crisis going on at times.
bottom line it though is worth a listen, pleasantly surprised

I wonder if they play like this live, or if this is just an attempt to play more "musical" stuff, with it being the Essential Mix.

They're supporting Eric Prydz in Glasgow this Saturday so I'm looking forward to seeing...
Tracklist does look great though.

Giving this a listen now. The intro section is very smooth and tasty, but halfway through and they've moved into the kind of vaguely-jacking thumpy house I would expect them to play. These Beatport Top 100 guys are also obsessed with churning out fist-pump remakes of old classics. In this case, Camelphat - The Solution is just a deeply stooopid retread of this:
Anyway, I'll stick it out to the end, because the tracklist looks like things pick up again. I have a feeling this mid-section is a more realistic representation of how they play out, though.
EDIT: That Adriatique track at the start is a total rip-off of Virtualmismo - Mismoplastico as well. Same key and everything.

Interesting
I never heard Cola but I heard them first via Higher and Trip which were excellent club records.

Nothing annoys me more than uncredited stealing. Mark Knight massive offender but seems others do it too. whats the issue here just credit the original drives me mad.

Having heard the whole thing, I'd say it's about 60% gold and 40% Beatport Top 100 . A few of the tracks went straight in my crate, which is 100% more than from any Sasha set I've played in the last five years.
(I'd been listening to one of his radio shows for about 15 deeply boring minutes before replacing it with this set.)
