In what's probably the weirdest thing to happen in a World Cup after Germany pummelled us, this Friday begins with a world still stunned after Putin lent his super powers to the Russian squad and thrashed an unsuspecting Saudi Arabia, leading to the greatest photo thus far.

My mother-in-law had eye surgery and we're taking care of her... And that's the highlight of my Friday, so I can't say there's much going on. How about you guys? I hope you're having more fun than us :p |

I'm in Barcelona for Sonar festival and my 30th birthday (tomorrow). Our hotel is full of 20 year old English party kids being absolute s every hour of day and night. I'm finally getting to that age where I look at fellow clubbers and note how much older I am. Compared to these half naked teenagers with glitter on their faces I feel like a Vietnam War veteran.
Anyway. All Day I Dream with the maestro Lee Burridge in the Spanish sun this afternoon. I doubt there'll be many kids there. |

I'm attending a conference on Hegel today. (file that under 'things nobody has ever said with a smiling face' :p)

lmao :stongue:
I think one of the nice things about Berlin is that, at least in certain clubs, you don't look out of place if you are 30+. I personally know people that are over 40 and still go clubbing somehwat regularily. |

Yeah, that's true in the UK too. I actually have a circle of clubbing friends in Manchester who are in their 40s. We were sat in their living room at 9am one morning after a night out, and their kids woke up and came downstairs. A slightly weird experience to say the least.
It very much depends on the DJ you're saying. Pretty sure the kids in our hotel had been to see Hot Since 82 or The Martinez Brothers. |

| Nothing major planned. I will still engage in the usual weekend chores of house cleaning and yard work, even thought it's Father's Day weekend. The wife has completed 4 of her 15 radiation treatments, which started this week. The side effects, so far, are less severe than the chemo, but she still has some general fatigue and nausea. Looks like some of the skin on her neck/throat have mild to moderate sunburn, but that's to be expected. I just hope that all of this stuff truly puts it into remission for her. I hate to be all Negative Nancy, but it just seems (I have not researched any actual stats/studies to back this up, mind you) that leukemia/lymphoma-based cancers have (relatively) high rates of re-occurrence. :( But, hell...pretty much all of life is beyond our control, and what little "control" we do have is probably 99% illusion anyway. |

Stay strong Zoso. You're doing all that you can and just remember that one part of the reason that Lymphoma cancers have slightly higher risk of reoccurrence, is that more people survive.
I have a friend that just had to go through a double mastectomy at 29 and the chemo really destroyed her health, but she's alive and healthy now. She had to go through it basically alone and you have each other so just keep doing what you're doing and make sure you enjoy life when it's over :) |

Had to do some factory tours with a colleague at work today, always a pleasant surprise when we get such request in less than an hour before the tour while the appointment with customers was made months ago... s.
Still got home early and went to my 80+ year old hairdresser, can't remember anyone else ever cut my hear. Working keeps you alive... in his case at least.
Watched the first one and a half WC match. Damn celebrating a victory without scoring looks strange.
The other match, well:

Big day tomorrow, as the Australian coach, Bert van Marwijk (and assistent Mark van Bommel) is from this area (which is 20 km from here), even speaks the same dialect and will direct Stu's Socceroos to, well, do the best against France.
Birthday party for my son tomorrow, although his actual birthday is over a week and others of his friends also have their birthday's coming. Laser gaming it's gonna be.
Father's day, o, that too.
Meanwhile many of my friends and colleagues are at the Pinkpop Festival listening to Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Editors, Bruno Mars and stuff. O, , I just see Youngr also is there tomorrow, bummer, but I'm not gonna pay €110 for an one hour act. |
