Canada Day Sunday, Monday is a holiday. Gonna be hot as balls all weekend here. Plans are to stay cool in the pool, and there's a splash pad in a nearby neighborhood I want to take the baby to. Farmer's Market early tomorrow and the streets downtown get closed off all weekend for Canada Day celebrations, so prob check that out at some point. :)
What say y'all?

It's my birthday today! First time in a long while that I scheduled a vacation day off work on my birthday, so I'll be taking advantage. We will be be travelling in the afternoon to our lakeside bunkies in the Haliburton Forest and just spending the whole weekend on the lake and by the fire.
It's going to be a lovely, relaxing weekend :)

Happy birthday! Sounds like a nice weekend. I'm dying to get up to cottage country. Sooo glad I at least live on a nice lake. But every time I walk the trail on the north shore, that smell of lake + trees in the air just makes me want to be further north.

Any reason to do another 165, although there already is a 166 in the MD...?
This evening we will try not to hit anyone with bow and arrow. One of the dads in my son's football team has archery as a hobby and arranged an evening for the team.
Tomorrow we're going to a wedding as one of my youngest cousins (daughter om my uncle, isn't there a separate word for male or female in English?) is getting married. Since it's over 30 degrees so that will be fun and hot.
Football and F1 on Sunday, same as last week, same as next week.
I will try to see some Luminosity footage as most Trance DJ's are at our beach enjoying the sunshine this edition.
And Happy Birthday!!

I'm going to round up all the raccoons in the area and sacrifice them to anubis

Happy birthday Chris. I still need to get on the case with your dnb podcast.
It's scorching hot here still. The heatwave goes on. This has easily been the best summer in 10 years, and it's not even July yet.
I'm off out in Manchester to see Mr Weatherall once again. You just can't beat clubbing in hot weather.

Huge weekend ahead... hitting up a museum party tonight and I can't make this up but the DJ tonight is named Deltoro :toothless ... "Deltoro is a DJ and producer from Toronto who fuses Latin rhythms and Electronic music for a high energy dancefloor."
Arg vs FRA and POR vs URU World cup action ...a Trance party .... Canada Day party on the island with Martinez Brothers and Robert Babicz ...followed by evening jam with Kenny Glasgow + Danny Tenaglia.
On Monday I'll be sleeping all day lol
Side topic: I came across this tune on Spotify this week and I hadn't heard it AT ALL in 25 years. Totally forgot about it.

Ah man, I even checked the other threads. Lol.

if it means devastation of crops, extreme drought and fires, water supply problems, sunburns and general fatigue then yes it has been the best spring in years.
what is it with the common folks obsession about getting positive about sunburns and their entire living habitat destroyed?
im so tired of summer and the manic people embrasing it.
Well what you just described is basically California for 10 months of the year, although it does cool down in the night and morning but by noon, it's all burnt off and hot as , with a light breeze.

The environment is being destroyed anyway. We can at least get some uplifting sunshine out of it. In the UK over the last decade, climate change has manifested predominantly as the erosion of distinct seasons into endless dystopian rain. It's like being in Blade Runner, but with all the neon and flying cars replaced with fried chicken shops and double decker buses. I imagine that would suit a miserable bastard like you down to the ground.

It irks me a bit too. Only Japanese can be worse than this, in the sense that there are four different words for siblings (depending on age and gender), but only one damn word for cousin.
I also miss the word "compadre" ("godfather of your child") and "comadre" ("godmother of your child") in English, but I guess that's to be expected in non-Catholic countries :p

It doesn't make sense to me as if they borrow the French "cousine" it's solved.
We however use the same word for son of brother/sister or son of uncle/aunt. Same for daughter of those, but that's normally not a big problem as we often use the diminutive for the brothers/sisters children.
Languages with four different words are preferred I would say:
