Here's some background for you :D
"Poi" is the Maori word for "ball",(Maori are a New Zealand tribe). They used them to improve their coordination. They're balls on strings that glow, sometimes used with fire, and you can make all sorts of configurations in the air that looks fantastic.

| Well im not going to get into history and all like the guy ^^^, but very simply it is when u take glowsticks on the end of strings and come up with cool ways of spinnign them and coordinating them to make them look tight. It is very hard but once u get the hang of it, it is ez. I usually do it all the time in my room. |

i dont know, back when i used to go raving a long time ago
i would do something that looks like you are skipping and kicking at the same time, i dont even know what its called
but i recently went to a rave, and no one did that anymore,so i was like whatever, and some guy comes up to me saying "Oldschool!" i was like ok,
i also like to use glowsticks and do the liquid with my hands.
also when i do the skip kicking, i like to transfer it what people refer to as nordic track i think and when i do that i like to jump and turn around in teh air, and then switch back to skip kicking, and when i skip kick i like the jump and around,so i use a big area to dance |

| Hahah well yeah not too many of my friends i no can do it so i just waiting for another dance at my high school to show it off. B/c where i live if u can do nehting good w/ glowsticks, lcd lights, liquid, or pop and ne of that stuff they think it is the coolest stuff. Hell u could pretty much throw ur arms around and do some stupid that wouldn't pass w/ real ravers, and they would be in aw! HAHA it is great. But there is one thing wen i started to learn how to do the glowsticks on ropes i got raqed in the balls 24/7 ahah |

| To tell you the truth ive never gone to a club to dance or nothing, ive always been at my house. And right now im getting into trance/techno and my friend introduced me to acid (witch is excellent). So yea,no dancing for me i guess...... |

| I jus pump my fist to the beat, or the keyboard thing, who give a about being cool, if ure at a party to be cool or where ever u shouldnt be there, this of course being a party where theres a good dj PvD, Oakey, Armin, etc...;) |

dancing is more about feeling the music and moving to it.. hence why they call trance dance music as well so to dance isnt a state of showing how cool you are..
being cool is making your car balance on 2 wheels while sipping tea |
