To the American TA's: don't worry, there are ignorant people everywhere, the US is not cursed or anything :p

ok, these people are dumb, but I saw a few of these clips with dutch people in them and they were even more stupid

They went to Austria in the winter, they had a map of the world with them. They would ask the Dutch people where Austria is on that world map.

they picked countries like Germany, America, Russia etc. They didn't even know where they were going to on vacation.

There was one woman who pointed The Netherlands as Austria!!!:eyes: :eyes:

so actually this clip means nothing

hell yeah!! maybe the US have the highest percentage of kids going to school, but it's the level of teaching that counts!! I'm from Holland, and i don't say we're perfect, but ar least we can point our country on a map (and it's even only a third of texas in size!:p )

I am honest when i say the best educated people are in Yurp, and that's not because i live there, it's because you have George W Bush, hahaha, no seriously, we have no schools were kids walk in with guns and stuff, the level is just higer in europe.

True story
A few years ago my family went on vacation to California for a few weeks. We drove down because we had a RV at the time. Anyways we were stopped at an Arizona gas station on our way to see the Grand Canyon later that day. I went inside to pay for the gas and the man working inside commented about the motorhome. We got to chatting and, he asked where we were coming from. I told him that we were on our way to L.A. coming from "Calgary, Alberta, Canada". I understood that he might not know where Calgary, or Alberta was for that matter so I explained that Alberta is just north of Montana and Idaho. Then the man looked me dead in the eye, and said to me seriously "That's by the mexican border right?" I couldnt help but laugh my ass off.

and just look at the results of the pisa study?
then you know that the usa and even germany is in the last third

finish, japanese and south korean students are the most intelligent!

btw i just read something about the finish education system and i'm amazed! i'd love to have this also in austria (allthough the austrian government spends the most money per people of the world on education)

what did you read about our education system? do you think it's in some way special! studying is free, but that's the way it should be everywhere. and if you are a student then you get financial support from the state! do you mean some of these or what?

and btw it's finnish

Point: A lot of other "average" people who you just stop on the streets in other countries probably wouldn't do THAT much better

Counter-point:Just because you go to college doesn't mean you're smart per se (ask the same questions to some college students and you will be surprised how many people are ignorant of seemingly basic pure facts)

Why do some people take the answers of a few idiots and apply them to a whole country?:whip:

Every country has stupid people, so deal with it.
