Hi, all!

So, I've found out something sort of interesting about the white label version of Paul Oakenfold's "Southern Sun" track -- the white label pressing that contains the unreleased DJ Tiesto Remix... well, apparently it's EXTREMELY rare. It was limited to 80 (EIGHTY) copies, according to an NFO file I downloaded from a RAR file that contained a rip of DJ Tiesto PLAYING it live at Dutch Dimension back in early 2002.

Let me know what you guys think! I'm still trying to find an actual full-quality, full-version rip of that vinyl... so if anyone has any more information, let me know! Thanks. :)

There is not much to think - there is a version of the Tiesto remix whose vocals show some differences here and there compared to those of the version on the official releases.

It may or may not be on this white label https://www.discogs.com/Paul-Oakenf...release/7866463

Things were mentioned here http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=729178

And this was posted

There is no alternative Tiesto remix that is musically different

80 doesn't sound that extreme. I have 1-of-20, 1-of-10 test pressings of other records.. That's rarer.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I'm 100% sure that the unreleased DJ Tiesto Remix is on the white label that you linked to in your reply -- just look at the release date of January 20, 2002. That's about 2 weeks before DJ Tiesto played live at Dutch Dimension, at which he played his unreleased DJ Tiesto Remix.

About the YouTube link... if you listen to the live turntable mix of "In Search Of Sunrise 3: Panama" and seek to about 46 minutes into the MP3 file -- you'll notice that the version that the synth line in the video version does NOT match the version heard in the live continuous mix of ISOS3 (if you listen closely enough).

Therefore, my attempts to find a high-quality rip of the vinyl remain in vain to this very day. :(

Well that's insufficient evidence - Oakenfold/Perfecto could have circulated the definitive version on an early test pressing in Jan (if that is actually correct) and Tiesto could still have chosen to play an earlier(?) version with the slightly different vocals. Also, the Discogs entry for that white label does not fully conform to the database rules and is lacking info and is therefore not as trustworthy as it could have been.
