The new ibiza??

It seems like ibiza has become the Monaco of partying , a place where the rich can go on holiday , rent out bungalows, stay at resorts like ushuaia....and take selfies on instagram for rejoice ...
And that is fine and all , but what about us free spirited people ?? Or others that dont necessarily fit into the status quo ??
There uses to be a lot of talk about Berlin and for a long time literally every single DJ was relocating there and calling it their home base ...
I have considered visiting Goa, but I would be weary if I was a female considering all of the rape incidents coming out of there
In short , I want to be one of those people who was there to witness something "special" in whatever part of the world it may be .. |

| I think that's Berlin right now, but there are good scenes all over the place. You don't have to be necessarily in the hub to be at a special party. |

Croatia has generally been considered the "new Ibiza" for so long that I'm now hearing people say Georgia is the "new Croatia".
My experience of Berlin was that the clubs were as packed out with clueless backpackers as any other European city. The idea that it's some underground frontier is long since dead. |

Yea this is very true ....I went to demf alone in Detroit back in 2014 , because I felt like I was missing something, although it was cool seeing seth troxler, richie Hawtin, Carl cox , digweed etc in person....I realized experiences like that are only fun when you are sharing it with someone.....otherwise festivals suck!!!
I had way more fun wondering round downtown & midtown and coming across random parties on the street

According to who? Just because you went to some bad parties?
Granted the whole scene is not what it was in 2012, Berlin is still up there in the list of the better places to go to hear dance music and party as far I know. |

Go to Berlin if you want, there are still plenty of amazing nights there. It will never be a "VIP bottle service" environment like Ibiza. However, the fact that people's first suggestion for "where do I go globally for a party?" is now automatically Berlin has inevitably lead to some dilution, and you're not going to catch something new and special as it unfolds. The bouncer at Berghain has published a memoir, for 's sake.
Apart from the ludicrous opening hours, I don't see what makes it superior to the other European party capitals like London or Amsterdam, where I've had much more fun than in Berlin. |

This is exactly the most fun sounding part. Berlin is one of the only places where you can go to a club Friday night and not leave until Monday if you want. |

I see this statement being thrown every time Berlin is being mentioned. Where and what are these places, though? Berghain is (mostly) open saturday until monday. Other places will throw everyone out at 10-13 and reopen at midnight. I have never been to sisyphos, though. Maybe things are different at that venue. |

The idea of being in a club for 48 hours sounds romantically debauched in theory, but it would be seriously punishing for the body in practise. I've been to parties a few times where I've danced for 11-12 hours continuously, and that was more than enough.
I can only imagine what kind of high powered mutant wreckhead would actually stay in Berghain all weekend. 37 hours of straight dungeon techno in and staring down at the eleventh bomb of MDMA about to vanish down your neck, some part of your weary mind would realise the sheer brutality of the comedown massing on the distant horizon, and all would begin to crumble. |

I think Sisyphos goes friday to monday, not a place anyone would want to go to though unless you love Ketamine and ty music. The old Bar25 (2004-2010) was legendary for going from like thursday to tuesday every weekend but I don't think even the new Kater Blau does that anymore.

There are so many tourists that strongly believe that there must be these legendary secret underground parties that they just don't have access to. In reality they don't exist, there are clubs and parties that are a bit more off-the-map but most of them play ty tech house and aren't all that great. Any spot that's actually good becomes overrun with tourists like anywhere else within 1-2 years now because every tourist seems to know an expat living here now. In the end, no club here can survive without tourists, that used to be the case even 10+ years ago but now it's even more impossible since you can longer run unlincensed spaces for any length of time and you have to deal with mountains of expensive regulations, fees and paperwork. I've heard that even About Blank is struggling financially and that place is in every tourist guide. |
