Are there still some Logic PC interested people out there ?
I found a way to make the old Logic run portable on Win 10, no 1 gb ram limit ! So a way to use it full force. And yep can do it 2 ways or as 1 icon portable tool, or as open structure so you can load it with own old songs and VST Plugins. There even is a way to pre install VSTi that need an install, but you can't add installs after you make the portable.
I obviously am not going to share Logic it self with you as the only way to do that would be to share warez and that is not allowed here. But i can explain how to do it step by step. Might be very handy for the older musicians among us who have old songs but stopped using logic cos of the 1 gb ram limit. You wont have that problem if you use an older version of Logic. Version 5.3 does not have that limit and can simply be installed on Windows 10 even in 2018.
But as said now even found a way to make it portable. And that i can show you how to do using free open source software. But is a lot to write down, so first asking if there is any interest in learning about how to do that. On a side note you can do this with every software program, so might be interesting for you to know even if your not into logic. Bet you you can do it with Ableton or Cubase as well. Would love to do it with Rebirth, but that will only run on win XP. But giving it a try anyway now that it poped in my mind lol
Not looking for dozens of replies 2 is enough already, just want to know if there is interest in doing this as it is a lot of text. Found out how to do it recently and think some here might be interested.
So will be a step by step how to and tools needed all free.
Haven't been making much music lately nor mixes, but this might inspire others as well as a portable tool is soo easy. No constant reinstal on scans and such, and just run from a stick no need to put on your sys and slow it up ;)
How to make any program portable: Universal Extractor
Works like a charm for me, and takes seconds only.

How To
1) Extract your paf, and move the portable app to where you want to use it
2) Go inside the folder "UniExtractPortable", Right click run as administrator on UniExtractPortable.exe
3) Click through the options untill the small box is only left
Next time you open it only the small box is shown.
4) Select the "Extract function"
5) Browse to the program you want to make portable on the top box
Lower box shows the destination, will be next to the installation in a folder using the same name
6) Click ok, left side bottom next to clock on windows you see it working
7) Look in the folder where you have the instalation exe and see the folder
8) Go in the folder, right click open as administrator and as you see it will run
THIS you can do with any program !
There also is a way to turn it back into a 1 icon exe.
The SFX part, RePacking after extraction:
Get: 7z SFX Constructor v4.4 Portable
The functions:
Source folder, select the folder that includes the extracted portable program
Extract to; not used
Selected: x86/x64
2x: I figure that creates a 64 and a 32 bit version ,I did not select that one as i read the system will use the one it has,
Icon picks up the icon of the install program, nice, and can add some info to it
Selected are: Index and run
Save into folder: a folder inside the packer program
Run it and there you go your 1 icon portable version of a program you first had to install.
How to preinstall programs into your portable tool is a long story. So if there is interest in that then i can add that. But think this already should do it for most, who do not use logic 5.
