Think this will work?

For the past year now, everytime I've wanted to spin, I've had to lug out my Battle Coffin, throw it on the end of my bed (which sucks so hard), hook up all my connections, plug everything in, break out my slipmats, take the covers off my needles, plug in my phones, break out my vinyl, and start going at it. I'm absolutley sick of it. This is a terrible way to live.

My longterm plan is to buy some L brackets and some wood and setup my tables and mixer in a corner of my apartment suspended on the wall and have room for my vinyl and other gear under it, or just buy a desk of some sort, but since I'm tight on money, do you think this will work.....

If I steal 4 or 6 milk crates and stack them on top of each other to form 2 (or possibly 3) columns and rest my coffin on top do you think it will work? Has anyone ever tried this?

Do anyone have any other [low cost] ideas, or ideas for the future that are just damn cool?

Thanks

my coffin is mounted on 2 ancient blown speakers. the milk crate bit would be a great idea, not so fond of the wall mounting..id be too afraid of it falling off.

I just measured the dimensions of my decks and mixer, and made my own table out of wood. Its a bit heavy, but its exactly how I want my equipment set up!

make sure u glue the milk crates or summat so they don't fall over ;)

Yeah thinking about it, I don't think crates would be a good idea. I think in terms of performance, the best thing to use would be like a trash barrel (a big thick plastic one) and put it upside down. Get 2 of them to use a columns and put my coffin on top... but I don't really want to put trash barrels in my apartment -- they don't compliment the leather. I think I might look into building a table of sorts, or maybe just getting a cheap desk or something.

What kind of setups are you guys running?
mikefasssy
2x decks
1x mixer

For now thats all the stuff I am using, although I hope to get a 3rd deck soon. Just make it however you like it, for mine I really spaced things out, because I hate spinning on a cramped setup. I left gaps in the back so my wires could do their thing without getting in the way / looking ugly!

I'm already accustomed to the battle setup which has everything pretty close, and I dont really plan on getting anything more than 2 decks and a mixer in the forseeable future. My space is also kind of limited.

How did you go about building your table? Did you just get like a real thick piece of plywood and put it on 4 cloumns or something?
Project T
goto IKEA or woteva u hav in america and buy a table or hire a private joiner 2 come and make u a specific table :)

shompton:

I got one big sheet of plywood (5x8) and then 2 2x3's and then measure away to what I wanted. I ended up putting half of the plywood on the bottom, making my holes (?) for my mixer and decks to sit in, and thats where I put the 2x3's (cut to size of course) then I put the other half of the plywood on top, and then cut out the holes for the decks and stuff.

I'll try and get a picture for you...

go to home depot, lowes, etc etc... and get a board that's decently thick (1/2" or so) that will fit your equiptment on.

then stack a bunch of cinder blocks in the corner to support this board a little above waist level.

8x16 cinder blocks are usually about $1.25 each and i doubt you'd need more than 12 of them. wood isnt very expensive, either.

then get a nice black satin sheet and drape it over the top of your cinder block stand. it's cheap, sturdy, and easy.
