SUPREME Clothing.....

Who buys this brand?

why the hell is it soooo expensive?
Lira
I don't. But, to answer your second question, it's because James Jebbia is a marketing genius.

If you create the illusion of demand, and you have items that look remotely interesting, people will pay slightly more for an "exclusive" item, what with our penchant for conspicuous consumption. Add to that the fact Supreme clothing is apparently top quality (so that resellers in their 30s often flip stuff they bought as teenagers), and it becomes something of an investment.

Also, every now and then they do drop something that looks cool. I know for a fact I might consider buying the Supreme x North Face collab from 2015 if it cost a tenth of what it's currently worth:

I'm a hypebeast at heart, but too stingy to actually go and buy the stuff :p

Supreme is such a bag of e.

I have a friend who grew up with Jebbia and apparently behind closed doors, he hates what Supreme has become and is happy to just let it sell out until it's played out. He's made a fortune off it but apparently that wasn't the initial point and now he loathes it, yet little dweebs in burbs lap it up.

If that wasn't the initial point (which I believe), why would he invest so much in hyping Supreme up like that then? It's not at all easy for a skateboard clothing line to get this popular without some extra push :conf:

Edit: Besides, Samsung China has just given the world extra lulz for partnering with a fake "Supreme" company :p

they collaborate with every high end brand so they must be doing something right ..but yeah im not neccesarily a fan of that whole scene ..

the fact that these losers think they are being fashionable by wearing a tshirt with a logo on it , is funny though.

but i used to be like that , back in the ed hardy days myself

unless you live in new york there is a slim chance of getting a pair of these , and i believe they do like raffles and stuff for the online shop, and it all sold out before it even goes on sale, so yeah crazy demand

It's the only clothing brand I can find that defines who I am, and advertises it to the whole world. That is, the uncontrollable desire to piss on everyone's face and look like a cool guy whilst doing so.

I didn't have an in depth discussion but it was more along the lines of it was meant to be this urban, ultra cool, somewhat minimalist brand, and it went all the way to partnering in licensing agreements with Luis Vuitton and the North face, where 12 year old beverly hills school kids are wearing it to prep school.

At a certain point he went it, and just completely commercialized it.

Ah, got it. Well, there's always Lance Walsh, the fruit seller from London who's built up quite a following:

Definitely not prep school :D
