Last night, I was thinking about this place and wondered if I remembered my password.
In 2008, I dropped out of college for a semester and moved to Colorado with my synths and turntables thinking I'd finally break in to the industry. I had no chair, so I sat on the floor with the turntable coffin serving as a desk. TA, MySpace EDM forums, and residentadvisor were where I lived. Any time I thought I'd finished something worth showing, I'd load these sites up and see how much further I needed to go.
A lot of mediocre tracks and mixes were made during that time, but I still keep at it 10+ years later. I write guitar-centric music now and don't mess with techno anymore, but I still think about this place a lot.

When I think about my first posts here, it boggles the mind: I was single, lived with my parents, had never taken a single linguistics class, had only seen Brazil win the world cup once (and we defeated Germany the second time, Germany!)... It's unbelievable. |
