Figure this is a good place to post movie and tv show reviews. Considering there are some great tv shows, why not talk about both?
Fyre Festival Documentaries on Netflix and HULU
Did anyone catch em? I watched both and thought they were well done.
To be honest, I didn't know anything about the festival until it tanked. And honestly, the little news that I heard wasn't even a thought in my head. The only thing I knew about it was whack ass Ja Rule was part of it. So I think that's why I never really cared.
But wow! What a piece of this guy was!!! I'm sure the documentary up played how much of a scandal it was because my friends and I never really even knew about this crappy event. And to be honest, I didn't really care about how the "Influencers" were bamboozled out of their money.
What I do feel bad is for the locals getting screwed by this guy. Pretty ed up yo! These rich kids that paid for VIP service will eventually make up the money from their parents but the locals are screwed. I read an article where someone started a GoFund me account to help reimburse some of the locals. Kinda cool I guess but i'm sure there were a lot of other people that lost out on this. That's the biggest tragedy of the event. |

Well the attempt at this thread has FAILED!!
I watched a movie called "Polar" over the weekend on Netflix. If you like John Wick, you'll like this one. It's basically John Wick with more boobies. Over the top fight scenes. Cool that I wish I could do in real life. |

I watched both as well. The Netflix one was better. But the Hulu one had him talking in interviews.
Dude was a psychopath....getting people to put money on a wristband. :haha:
Then using the other guy's name to sell tickets to events he didn't really have tickets for to bring in more money. :haha: |

I've only watched the Netflix one (which was ing great) but there's a big disclaimer about that one AND the hulu one:
The Netflix one was actually produced by the guys from the FYRE design/branding firm being interviewed all the way through. That yoga teacher twat was clearly trying to spin his involvement and the only guy that I actually felt sorry for was the older event planner guy. All the rest knew exactly what they were getting in to and should have walked away before the event.
The Hulu documentary producers actually paid Billy to talk - apparently that's a big no-no in the documentary world and you're paying them to tell you what you want (and with someone like Billy, you're never going to get the truth anyway).
Weirdly from a legal point of view (and this one is for you Mikey Esq) Fyre actually may set a presidence; The models/influencers they hired may be liable/have some form of culpability as they posted the promotional things for Fyre as personal posts without denoting that they were paid for. You'll see now that every model actually states "promoted post" or "in partnership with" due to concerns over Fyre. Kendall Jenner has been subpoenaed now and she no longer posts anything promotional without listing it. |

I think this would be awesome to see happen. |

TV Shows:
One of the best from last year was Condor, which is based on the Redford film 3 days of the condor. If you like espionage thriller's this is legit.
In that same vein, check out Little Drummer Girl. Not as great, but very stylized and well written.
If you want a minduck of a film, check out Triangle with melissa george. It's a bit B movie but it's one of those that gets your brain going afterwards to figure it out. |

The Umbrella Academy is pretty cool. Can't believe it was written by MCR's Gerard Way!
Concept is also quite unique for a superhero genre. Highly recommend it. |

I saw that pop up in netflix and thought about watching it. Guess I will be checking it out this weekend.
I watched "Kingdom" over the weekend. It's a "walking dead" type zombie movie set in feudal Korea. I didn't think too much of it on the first episode but decided to stick with it. Ended up being pretty cool. Not the greatest zombie show ever but just like walking dead, you watch it politics between the different groups trying to take over Korea. |

I watched both and like everyone mentioned they were both good. Both documentaries went at it in a different perspective, so it wasn't full on repetitive stuff. One of them went and looked into Billys upbringing and past while the other didn't even focus on that stuff.
I have mutual friends from here in San Diego that are friends with Travis Barker from Blink 182. They help him out with his cars and other things. He doesn't fly on planes (after the plane accident with DJ AM) and only travels by bus or by boat. So when they go to Europe or Australia he has to leave weeks in advance lol. Anyways he had already booked a tour bus and was getting ready to take the bus ride over to FL to take a boat to the island when their manager cancelled the booking. He was so relieved because he didn't really want to go all the way over there lol |
