Sadly, I doubt the resurgence will last very long before they get strip mined by the bigger clubs, as is usually the way of it. Their star midfielder is already off to Barca in the summer.

Still, the Champion's League has delivered the goods this week, what with Man United's third string sending PSG packing in their own stadium.

Sad but very true, in our Micky Mouse competition Ajax or PSV will never earn enough money to be in a position they can win from big teams frequently in following years. We can only enjoy the moment, hope for more, but not expect more.
The only positive is that Ajax financially are very healthy and are in a position to buy some decent players. Combined with a good school for their young talents it can pay of well as in the current situation.

Some annual turnover graphs show why it's an impossible mission:

Our Eredivision is tiny and Ajax and PSV by far earn most money which is still a lot less then the lowest annual turnover of a club in the Premier League.

That's ing bonkers that a mid table EFL (not even Premier League team) earns far more than Ajax.

Those figures will be from last year when Stoke were still in the Premier League. They probably won't even earn half of that in the Championship, even with parachute payments.

I know I'm a couple of weeks late, but did I hear Room Rave??!!

This is my first post on TA in 3+ years. Crazy, but my profile still has me averaging over a post a day.

Anyway, 6 Premier League teams have reached the quarter-finals in Europe the same season for the first time this century. Talk about dominance, whoa...

Throwback to 2009. To be fair, given the enormous financial advantage our clubs have over the rest of the world, it's more of an embarrassment that in recent seasons we've done so poorly in Europe.

At this stage, I'd say Barcelona, Juventus and Man City are the favourites. I've had a tenner down on Juve since before Christmas so I stand to benefit if they finally get themselves over the line.

After watching Shaw get bullied by Wolves I can't wait to see what Messi does to him.
