Friday 208: Easter Edition (pg. 2)

Happy Easter, everyone! So, where exactly do(n't) people eat chocolate eggs today?

We gorge on chocolate eggs here in Brazil like lactose intolerance is an evil to be fought sweet tooth and nail. As a matter of fact, my earliest Easter memory is my overindulgence in bitter chocolate, having eaten nearly a pound in about an hour back when I was 11 or 12. I have, since then, hated bitter chocolate with all my heart. It just tastes of gluttony and regret.

I was actually pretty good about moderating my indulgence this year. We also didn't get a bunch of chocolate from my inlaws like we normally do, lol.

One of my earliest Easter memories is of the year my sister ruined it (and, consequently, Christmas) by showing me where our parents hid our gifts and telling me the Easter Bunny wasn't real. I was only 4!

Edit: congrats OrangestO!

So I had tons of ideas running through my head before and after she arrived. The night when she got there just wasn't right though. I set the room up nicely - roses petals and candles around the hot tub. But we had been away from each other for 10 days and needed some time to readjust for lack of a better word. I was tired, and she was exhausted. We needed a good dinner and soak to relax. As we got ready for the day of sightseeing the following morning, I put the ring into my upper left breast jacket pocket. I felt the buldge, but she says she never noticed it. I kept thinking she did as we walked around that morning. We strolled toward the Pantheon and got some coffee. I never drink it, and what I had turned my stomach into tighter knots. The Pantheon was impressive - thought of proposing below the halo. But it didn't feel right. We walked by Trevi Fountain. That didn't feel right either. Too many people. Then we walked over to the Altare della Patria, which I had visited on my own the day before. We walked up the stairs and arrived at the wrap-around balcony at the top. I had remembered the beautiful view of the Colloseum. I directed us to go to that spot, but she urged us to pay for an elevator to get to an even higher level. I didn't want to spend money for it but we did. On the way to the top I started thinking about proposing, but I wanted to do it in private. There were about 30 people at the top, and most of them were on there way back down. As the groups of five left, I waited in hopes that we would have a moment alone. And we finally did - for about 30 seconds. So as we looked on at the Colloseum in the distance, I dropped on one knee and asked. I'm happy I did so early in the day so we enjoyed the rest of it in bliss. Staying at the Shard was the cherry on top. What a place. Go if you can.

Tldr: Altare Della Patria. At the hotel pissed right now lol. Cheers.

Yes, I've been to the Shard... I live about five minutes walk away. It's not exactly my kind of place, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Altare della Patria has a great view, definitely a good choice :)

Congratulations!

At my wife's mom ours kids and their two cousins searched eggs (not chocolate ones) and after that they started hiding them again and searched again, and that like the entire afternoon...

In between my brother in law and I went to look the Amstel Gold Race to say hi to Sagan at a hill in town, just a 2 minutes walk away, but the peloton was still compact eight rows wide so I only spotted Valverde.

Peter Sagan was a bit as expected, he isn't in last year's shape yet, but boy what a final kilometer was this and on top of that a Dutch winner after so many years :) How the hell was this possible?

I am going to copy and paste the first two paragraphs to create a story:

For my audience's sake I have a few questions.

Were yours kids searching the insides of bird eggs?

Whats the relevance of the hill and it's two minute walking distance?

Can we have more depth on sagan and valverde

MvdP is a freaking stud! Some good results from his first road racing season! Thinking he may be the new Sagan...not that Sagan is out, he just hasn't hit his true form yet this year.

That last KM was insane though!
