Well, it's still about 2 acres, total, like the other house, but unlike the other house I have 2 things working against me at "the farm": the yard is cut up into about 8 or 10 "pieces"; and, in many of those "pieces," there are several large silver maple trees (some people also call them water maples) that have these huge, long, and very shallow roots. So you have to slow down, raise the deck to its maximum height, creep over the root, then lower the deck again. |
Well at least your skills will improve :)
I can do the lawn in about 15 minutes here. My colleague who build a house on the land of his parents, bit more than about 1.4 arce bought a robot to do the lawn, actually meanwhile two as the first one decided to go swimming in a water pool :) He was sick and tired of spending half of his free Friday behind the lawnmower. |

I used to enjoy mowing, as it was sort of like creating order from disorder, and scratched my OCD nerve. However, for the last 3.5 years, I've had horrible, daily mid-thoracic back pain, and jostling around on a riding mower for 2 or 3 hours is the worst thing I can do to aggravate it, I've found. |

| A couple of years back I bought a truck load of top soil, raked it in with grass seed, it soften things up. |

Fine, fine. Truth: I mow naked, while being straddled by wh00r3s, as I snort lines off their fake . :o |

My daughter baked a cake and my son actually did half the lawn.
I'll remember you said it in about 10 years, probably less :D |

Silky J - what's your new whip?
Zoso - if TA forum was on Tapatalk I guarantee you there'll be more activity. Honestly, I only check in here when I have my company's Surface Pro, which isn't frequent. I enjoy work/life balance |

Fittingly enough, I will also be spending this weekend gardening. We took the deck up on the front this week and now there's an unholy mess of bricks, rotting wood and spiders left exposed, which needs tidying up while the weather is half decent. Sorry Jenny.
And come on. How has nobody else noticed that this is actually Friday 225? |

Spiders, you say? Nuke from orbit...only way to be sure.
Actually, here in the good ole Southeast, I generally leave a spider alone, unless it's clearly a black widow or might be/appears to be a brown recluse (they, to me, are much more difficult to positively ID). It used to drive the wife and the girls nuts when they were little. "Daddy! Come kill this spider!" I go check and it's not one of the above. "Nah, that guy is eating all the other bugs you are NOT seeing, so I'll let him alone." Having endured a copperhead bite, I think I would take the snake bite again vs. either the black widow or the brown recluse. |

2019 Golf TSI. 6 speed manual. My third Golf! I also priced out a Golf R and a GTI, but both are wayyyyy over my budget, lol. I prob could have negotiated more to get the GTI, but it's R I really want. Maybe next time! |
