I up you his impromptu 2007 'Treble-nectar' Shambs set on the legendary scale. Sorry, I meant infamous.

Always felt him waaay overrated. Yeah, he had a fun little gimmick with the hair and all, but seemed to me his sets were more about the vibe of the people he'd draw rather than anything he'd actually play. That does earn a rep' as a 'must see' act, especially for new-comers to the festival scene, so his audience always tended to skew younger. Still no excuse to invite and groom underage girls tho'.

Has something happened with May? I've heard stories for years alleging that he's a sleazeball.

yea.....they have been all over twitter in the last 12-14hours.

Carl Craig posted a few things on his twitter saluting Derrick May but closed off the replies.

Michael James, the guy who wrote the melody for 'Strings of Life,' has been accusing May of being a predator for the last year or so, it seems, and his allegations blew up yesterday, not entirely sure why.

Considering that James has complained for years that May has never given him proper credit and he's evidently writing a book about May, he's not exactly an objective source, though of course that doesn't mean he's lying/wrong.

I have no trouble believing it whatsoever. Read the cover story from this old issue of Muzik Mag and try to keep count of the red flags: http://www.muzikmagazine.co.uk/issu...7_june_1998.pdf

Since when has anything in Glasgow been fashionable? :o

Yeah, that's a painful read. We'll see if legal authorities get involved. If I was May, I'd certainly be contacting my attorneys today.

Come for the shocking May interview.
Stay for the quaint 'beginnings of M_nus' Hawtin questionnaire.
Gander at the 'shocking in retrospect' Boards Of Canada review.
Guffaw at the pre-robot Bangalter photos.

/always thought May was the over-rated one out of the Belleville Three
