| I tend to listen to them every year when they come on Spotify. They used to be quite good "dinner party" listening for the background when you had people over who didn't necessarily like drugged up dance music. Recently they've started veering a bit too much into "compilations of Scandinavian lullabies", as one Discogger put it. Just too sappy and soft. |

I listen every year. This year didnt do it for me. I think adding the third CD made room for more fluff and less special tracks. I think they need to tighten it up next year back to 2 CD. I also think perhaps not being able to road test some of the tracks (the James and Jody remixes were just bland this year) affected things.
10 is light years better. |

haha thats fair. it's definitely more palatable to the inexperienced but given that its a "mass produced" comp they could have certainly done a lot worse. strikes a nice balance between being too mainstream and too subculture while offering some hidden gems. granted im heavily biased because the style they seem to aim for is a very "lush" atmospheric vibe and i can always get behind that. look at comp 08, 16BL is spot on for me, simple pads, nice melody with some piano gets me hard. same thing with serenas garden on 10, first time i heard that it melted my ears like a chocolate lava cake on how smooth it went down

i agree on both, 10 is what put this stuff on the radar for me and 13 seemed like it was too much, added filler to meet the requirement essentially. |
