I've heard this term on the internet but never really figured it out. In the trance world, it's usually the anthemic tracks with giant supersaws but what makes other tracks different?

the people who cleared the dancefloor in 1993 didn't know they were listening to a classic.

I was on the dancefloor when I first heard it back then and knew it right away ;) Maybe it was different in Belgium though.

It means the tracks you want to hear at 3am while really high on drugs, not at 11pm when you've just handed your coat in and bought a drink.

In the main room of the club I sort of weekly visited in the early 90's this was for years the peak hour introduction track. On the big sound system the intro works so good and I think it still would work. Something that was different from other tracks was the fact that it never was a big hit outside clubs:

Every DJ has their own style and their own notion of what they would play when the energy of a club is at its peak. There’s no science to it.
