This gonna be an odd thread, but I've had a few situations where tracks sounded better sped up or slowed down. Anybody experience this? Typically, most tracks sound best within its range like a +5 or -5 BPM, but like I said sometimes I've found a few really good sounding tracks with more extreme increase/decrease.
Y Traxx - Trance Piano @ 147-150 BPM (Originally 141 BPM)
Cosmic Baby - Loops Of Infinity (Arpeggiators remix) @ 137-140 BPM (Originally 155 BPM)
Zyon - No Fate (Struggle Continous Mix '91) @ 135-137 BPM (Originally 120 BPM or something)
The KLF - What Time Is Love (Power Remix) @ 125 BPM (Originally 118 BPM or something)
Jon The Dentist - Global Phases (Original Mix) @ 145-147 BPM (Originally 140 BPM)
Typically many tracks sound horrible when they're sped up even by +5 BPM. Take Silence and Suburban Train, imo, they sound terrible above 140 BPM, yet Tiesto used to play them even faster.
I was curious if anyone else could share some discoveries they found by messing with the tempo on certain tracks.

I love how how Ferry Corsten pithed up the tempo on Nothing (93 Returning Mix) on his Live @ Spundae album

This is a standard tool in the arsenal of any half-decent DJ: slowing tunes down to bring out their groove or pitching them up to give them extra pep. In the newest set in my signature (Back To Deep - future thread readers from the space year 2199) I'm pitching everything down from 130 to 124 to make them sound deeper. It's also a hell of a lot easier these days thanks to the magic of Master Tempo.
A bit of trial and error is always necessary, but a good rule of thumb is funkier tracks with lots of swing sound better slower than sped up, whereas things with untz-untz rave energy will tolerate going faster a lot better than slower. And breaks just work well any which way you send 'em.

Is Speedy J's De-Orbit supposed to be played at 33 or 45?
Teach the controversy!

Yeah... That's just a remix, mate.

Classic exmpale is Unit Moebius – Zipper - pressed at 33 rpm, but much better played at 45.
You can hear the difference below:
