How to find my post?

Hello All,

A long time ago I put up a post here asking for some new music recommendations. I dont see it anywhere and none of my searches turn up anything.

Is there a special way to find old content or might it have been deleted?

Thank you very much!
Lira
Hello there,

I can't seem to find your post anywhere either. What exactly did you say? How long ago did you post? By the way, if it was about music recommendations, are you sure you didn't post in the music discussion forum? Looking for say, "rattymouse site:tranceaddict.com", on Google should've yielded a result or two, but it seems as if this is your first post ever. Nothing shows up at all.

And, as a moderator, I can't find any traces of your post. Is there any chance you had another user name back then?

Funny, 24 years in, I just realized there's no (obvious) way to look at your own Profile unless you click the button under one of your posts. :wtf:

Go here: https://tranceaddict.com/forums/mem...o&userid=205152

and click the top right link to list all your posts

I have no idea what ID I posted my question with. When I came to this forum, my computer autoloaded this user name into the login page so I assume this is what I used. If not this name then I will never remember any other user name and my quest will fail.

I don't recall the nature of my post other than it being a typical new person's type post. I'm interested in the replies I got as one person gave a very interesting and unique perspective on trance music, one that I have never heard before. I wanted to revisit that at this time but it maybe lost forever. That's OK. Not the end of the world.

I thought it very strange there's no easy way to find your own posts in a forum. At most other places it is a trivial thing to do. Perhaps I have no other posts.

Thanks again.

Don't worry, Del, we've all always considered it a feature rather than a bug.

There's the hack Swamper said. Because it's just two-clicks away, I guess we all got used to it over the years. As for music suggestions, you'll be more successful in the Music Discussion forum but, since you're already here:

This is the sort of thing that brought quite a few of us here back when there was just one Matrix film.

You disabled this feature years ago after the RANN debacle, remember?

I don't recall any of that but, you know what? I remember you once mentioned you don't use smileys because you want(ed) to be a writer (at some point) and wanted the words alone to convey all your thoughts. Assuming you still have that goal, why on earth haven't you published a book titled "Househooked" or something of the sort about an internet forum where people hooked on house music do bugger all? If you have, how come you're not famous yet?

You've got the writing style and the memory to make this happen, dammit! Go for it, Jack :p

I do write fiction and I've written some short fiction about clubbing, but I've never even found somewhere to submit those pieces to. It's such a specific subject matter that it doesn't fit the majority of anthologies, magazines, etc.

In terms of writing a story about a forum, I think one of the big emerging challenges of 21st Century literature is portraying online interactions in traditional prose narratives. It would have to be quite an experimental book, but also oddly passé at the same time, because Gen Z don't really use old fashioned bulletin board forums like this.

I write non fiction but everyone thinks it’s fiction
