yo maaz, there are alot of genres there that you just seemed to have made up, and the map is bloody confusing. The best would have been some simple tree diagram. But dont make up sub genres, becasue you'll be mis-informing alot of ppl around here, particular the 'new to electronica' generation.

nice idea fella, looks like the london underground... one suggestion, why do u have the odd dj name thrown in on the map? it doesnt make sense! just lose the dj names and tidy it up a tad and u have a nice informative map which wud make a great poster!
i wud like to have a full size one when its complete please:) |

The problem of choosing a tree diagram is that the way music evolved was not that simple... genres merge, genres split, ...

u figured it all wrong, psytrance is a genre of trance, not rock, all of ur map is messed up, i think u catagorised the map by the styles that go well togather, the map should be catagorised by history, and what are all those sub genres u added????
listen more to the genres u wrote, like prog and trance and bass (?), and then rewrite ur map, cos its clearly that u wrote this map with not much thought in it... |

| i took at class at my school on the history of electronic dance music and our professor had a map that looked just like that- everything was arranged differently though- He had jungle coming from breakbeat and reggae and trance from ambient and hardcore just to name a few. Ill try to find my notes from the class and post the map he had. There was a pretty good argument behind everything he had on there. |

| Someone mentioned earlier that goa came from psytrance. I disagree, I think goa came first. Goa is named after the portugese colony in India where goa trance first originated. Because it was a familiar tourist spot, many people took it back to their native countries. Ive been listening to Goa for 7 years, and love both goa and psytrance. I didnt hear about psytrance till about 3 years ago. |

I concur. I wrote an essay on the history of electronic music my senior year of high school, and I wish I would've thought of using a diagram like this. |
