I currently have the nightclubs. They are great, but a little bass heavy. I am a beadroom banger so I'm looking for a needle with more high/mid response - that's ortofon.
any suggestion for styli? gold maybie?
thanks all

| i heard that golds were the same as nightclub e's...perhaps it has more to do with your mixer/amp/speakers? |

i think all the ortofons are bass-heavy, that's why people like them. anyway, if you looking for more hifi quality ones, check out shures. they aren't the one-piece deal that come with ortofons and could be pricier, but depends on what kind you want. i'm gonna invest in the M35X ones myself.

| the golds are the nightclub S with a gold needle, the nightclub E is what most clubs use because it has an elliptical needle which stays in the grooves better under the big bass conditions of a club. |

yup, these are decent needles (i own the 680SLs myself, dun think there's too much difference besides maybe needlepoint) but I can't vouch for their durability. I've had these for a lil' over a year and the quality has degraded already. =P
gonna go get my shures today. :D |

I think a year is good durability for heavily used needles,

the M44G is a great cartridge. It has a great balance between aural quality and groove handling, and is low tracking force so it wont wear your records much. |

Hey guys... Im doing a gig at an club in a month ...
I need to know what needle I should buy for that type of use...
someone said the Nightclub E is made for that... shoul i go with that or anything else ? |

I have the nightclub E's. Great needle, doesn't skip (i put it on 1.5 and then after about 6 months of use I have to move up to around 2.25). backqueing scratching the beat back and forth before i drop it, it never skips its a great needle.
but I started this thread because they seem a little too bass heavy for my liking. Keep that in mind, depending on what sound you are looking for. Otherwise they are an awesome needle & cart. |
