making a correction to a previous statement, apparently this is a new remade version of "Electronic Malfunction" from his Nyana CD, but it's been modernized (I would say in a good way). It has some delicious 303 acid in it, and it still sounds mostly like the original. there's an extended mix as well. so tiesto did not remake it like he remade Universal Nation, it seems this CIRA96 and DJ Ton T.B. were in on it.

Like it or not, Tiesto is a major influence/player and what he does gets attention. He can't just go out there playing out the original long ass tracks with huge buildups and not lose part of the audience! The kids can't handle that Full-On Trance experience just yet, you have to ease them in that direction :haha:
Agreed. there was some "compromise" at stake here. if this could be the stepping stone to go where it needs to be, then I'm pretty excited to see 2026. hopefully
Light The Fuse
Edm slop with ancient trance tunes trimmings.
Give it up fellas. Hes fifty fkn six old and past it, relegated to a magical 5 or so years like his direct predecessor Paul Oakenfold.
Move on.

dont mind this heavily bicep inspired track, heard it recently.

"melodic techno" is the new phrase being thrown around these days. To me it's just a slower version of trance. Acts like Tale of Us, Anyma, etc. Not a fan personally but maybe that eases the kids into it?

Sorry, I need to interject here. Tiesto doesn't play melodic techno, these update mixes aren't melodic techno, melodic techno has nothing to do with this discussion.
I think Jules got it pretty much right on the money. These sets are thin gruel, even if you're an old school Tiesto fanboy, which I very much am not. If these update mixes were played on ASOT tomorrow, nobody would give a . They're just more bad commercial EDM updates of old uplifting trance tunes. The only reason people are more invested is because DJ Plantpot changed their life 20-odd years ago and the narrative that he's "Returning to trance" is something they desperately want to believe in. He's not going to play good trance in 2026, or ever again.

Also, let's put some fallacies to bed here, namely this idea that "the kids" can't get their heads around uplifting trance. Yes they can. People are making uplifting trance again and it's very popular. This DJ Heartstring track has more than 13,000,000 plays on Spotify. If you do not know this is happening it's because you are old and have no idea what's going on in contemporary dance music.
Tiesto isn't making update mixes because "kids" can't handle Universal Nation. Uplifting trance was extremely mainstream music in the late '90s guys. These tracks were in the pop charts all over Europe. There's nothing esoteric about DJ Tiesto. He's making these really bad update mixes because his fanbase likes really, really bad dance music. He's boxed himself into this corner by playing ing awful music for 20 years in a row.

I hope you're wrong, but youre probably right. I know you love Suburban Train, but what he did to Suburban Train..... it's just sad. putting those crappy american indie vocals over suburban train was disrespecting his own legacy.
ironically tijs has previously said on multiple counts that he's a "I hate vocals, I prefer undubbed instrumental versions of tracks" guy. No idea what the he was thinking about suburban train, unless it was money. It's like if Ferry put Billie Eilish vocals over "Out of The Blue"
you may be right J. because he boxed himself in that corner, he cant take certain risks. (recall back to EDC 2016 Silence incident) :haha:

so tiesto just released a new club life episode, but it was basically the same exact set at the dreamstate 2025 socal event that he did a few weeks ago. what's going on? was his show that night just another club life episode to him? i dont know too much about his club life series, but i always thought they were separate sets recorded not his actual stuff he played at events. if his club life radio show is the reason why he couldnt play any real trance due to his commercial reputation thats kinda sad
