Yes it's expensive, but the business model of airports is to get you there far too early and then surround you with expensive consumer choices while you sit bored, waiting to board. The whole reason it's so expensive is because you're a captive audience.
The general psychology behind airport drinking is you're demob happy. You've got through the stress of security and baggage check and your holiday is about to start. Why not have a celebratory drink? How long to the flight - another hour? Get another round in, Marcus. |

| I definitely go intentionally early to drink lol. I have Nexus/Global Entry so there's no reason for me to be at the airport early except to hit the bar and talk to strangers. |

Also +1 lol
Always enjoyed drinking at airports when traveling alone back in the day. Met interesting people along the way, some who are still friends. I usually can't sleep on planes, so I've gotten absolutely hammered more than a few times before long-haul flights to crash into my seat and pass out before takeoff. It's the best when you wake up to the captain announcing they're preparing for landing lol.
Have toned it down a bit since those days. But I love that my wife enjoys it, too, which makes traveling together even more fun. Definitely most comforting at the airports in the UK. Certainly feel amongst friends when it's 7 in the morning and half the people in the Wetherspoons has a pint or prosecco. There's a pub-like comradery in those moments that I don't think I've felt anywhere else. |

| Jason Momoa posted up right next to us at the airport bar on our way out of Toronto to NYC once, would have been when he was filming Aquaman. We only exchanged smiles and eye contact, nothing more. I'm not particaularly a fan, but I wonder what I would have done or said if it was an actor or musician I really love? |

| This is apropos of absolutely nothing, but does anyone remember that ancient meme of the weird shirtless guy with long hair flexing in a living room where the walls and carpet appeared to have the same lining? I feel like it's the kind of weird Hal used to post, and lord knows Google is baffled when I ask it. |

| No, it wasn't William. I remember his deranged nude flex photo you're thinking of. This was something else. In my memory, it was a kind of "scenic depiction of Eastern European life". Like, a grainy old photo. The wallpaper and carpet were a garish red. It was the kind of bizarre image the C0R used to specialise in. |

| Hm, doesn't ring a bell. But now I'm gonna have to see if William's Youtube channel is still kicking, lulz. |
