Ok, I want to know if anyone saw Deep Dish last night besides pyro and I? It was my first time both at Exit as well as indulging in the Deep Dish experience. Yes, that is what it was. An experience. I must say, in a positive way, that I was not impressed. I still have mixed feelings about the night. I think DD was very good and I can respect their talent but I was disappointed with them on the whole. Their entire set felt like a continuous, monotonous, dark and deadly beat. I was open to their style and looking to go on a journey, perhaps learn to appreciate a different style. Instead I felt almost suffocated. There were no uplifting beats. They were steady and hard, which was nice when I in front of the speakers, but they took me NOWHERE.
The crowd was generally sullen and drug-induced. The music, the people, the club: all dark and dirty. I felt like I was in some sick Kubrick film or NIN video. Scary and cool on one level..but for a $45.00 club night, it did not sit right with me.
All in all, I got teased. I was dying to hear one uplifting beat all night..instead I got locked inside a downward spiral that felt like a sadistic drug trip. And yet, I still say, they were GOOD. Just WEIRD. What else can I say? Any thoughts? Their music fits the weather.
P.S. Credits to Starfox, Taub and Redeye. You guys were right about venue as well as artist. |

I was actually very impressed with Deep Dish. I walked in there with the lowest expectations and ended up having a really good time. I was expecting a much more boring set. Instead, they kept the place moving at a danceible progressive pace.
Red Room was cool to go into when you needed to hear something a little faster. |

Very true, and the bass was great. I was in there a lot. There was some guy dancing by the doorway who had me entranced. he was excellent. They stopped too early, but I did catch a PvD track or two. |

| there was no way i was going to see DD at exit, even if i wasn't on hiatus - i saw them twice at vinyl and they were awesome. i love their dark and dirty style. but i can think of only 2 djs that would possibly tempt me to go back to exit. |

lol yes. him and sasha.
i think DD are considered progressive. i have never seen them on drugs, but then i might be a special case. if you go to LL let us know how it is. i think it is their reopening or something. |

This was a great night for me on many differnt levels... The last time I was at exit was for my birthday 3 months ago. From the moment I walked in there people were walking up to me saying " John, we thought you were never coming back " lol. I met up with my old crew Tranz, Jc, DI, Anthony, jenn and others... These are the first people I met at exit. We always did our own thing in the corner bye the juice bar ( keeping away from the pricks and creating out own vibe) :)
Walking in, I expected this from deep dish BOOM BOOM BOOM DA DA DA BOOM ! AT the best.
What they actaully played was deep darck HARD! trance . All to my liking. The crowd what night was not an exit crowd whatso ever. Everyone I met was freindly as hell and didnt seem to angry as the usaul crowd is.
45 dollors ING RIP  :whip: :whip: :whip:
It was great seeing my Long Island Crew out and about ( Brianna , her brother , his girl friend , and Riki) I had a great time RAVING MY silly ass off in the red room for you guys  :eyespop:
And now I rest. This has been 5 weeks straight of partying.
Ill be back for ARMIN
WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! |
