Lavelle is part of the UNKLE project, mainly produces, breaks, trip hop and hip hop, nothing all that proggie, apparently only recently has he gotten into house

He also owns the label Mo'Wax which is mainly trip hop and hip hop, responsible for the fame of Dj Shadow

Well 'Mongrel Meets His Maker' hasn't been released yet on vinyl :) Its on Shadow's Private Press album.. in two parts, side by side. Both are around 2 minutes :) I noticed though on Lavelle's GU023 VINYL that's coming out, Mongrel Meets His Maker is on it, so maybe there will be a longer version..we shall see :)

As for the GU.. it's awesome. I love both discs, although i do prefer disc one :).. more energetic..plus it gets a huge kick in the arse when Layo & Bushwacka's 'Let The Good Times Roll' come in!! This song is wikked!! Same with Fundamental from Sasha right after it! The last song (an UNKLEsounds edit) is sooooo beautiful. Best way to finish the cd. Ditto with the UNKLEsounds edit on Doves 'There Goes the Fear' on disc 2. Two beautiful productions...totally wayward from what u'd expect on a GU!

UNKLE Sounds - Essential Mix (2002-01-06).. One of the best EMs Ive heard this year. Their sound is so original I wouldnt know what to call it.

And I agree, GU 23 is great!!

tis tru this gu is very good and the best song is the unklesounds mix of Ian Browns F.E.A.R. and Ils no soul is not to be messed w/ either :D

I bought the gu-023 last week and I think it`s a masterpiece.

I can warmly recomend it, a lot of quality tracks.
