What's up everyone. Are there any smokers out there that quit cold turks? Please post here with suggestions. It's been 5 days now. From 1 pack a day to 0! Any ideas to help out? Thanks!

i quit cold turkey 7 months ago. you just need a reason for your quitting and some determination. i quit because i hated myself at the time. (i got better about that)

Hey wow, i quit 7 months ago too, almost to the day.

My advice is cold turkey is really the best way. Those first few weeks are pretty hard, but it gets better.

I find it's easier if you change your way of thinking.

Don't think, damn, i CAN'T have a smoke.

think, i'm glad i finally decided to quit, all i have to do is stick it out through the tough first little bit.

BTW, i never smoked cigarettes for me it was something else :)

i think it's probabably harder to quit cigs, but the technique is the same. just, DON'T GIVE IN, keep it up.

think of all the money you will save, how much better you will feel, longer you will live etc.

yea... thanks for your posts! :) im doing alright so far. i know its only been 5 days... and the hardest part is yet to come. i think i've just decided that its killing me. like i have trouble breathing like crazy. so that is a HUGE factor in the quit smoking..

try exercise too, or sports and stuff

I can't imagine quitting solely because I absolutely LOVE to smoke. I can go without it for days, and not get agitated when I can't smoke, but when I can, it's just the most blissful 10 minutes. Im talking about cigaretes (as opposed a blissful two hours or so!).
I imagine you've decided to quit because you feel like it's just a habit, and you don't like it any more. Quitting may be much more difficult if you're a social smoker, if most of your friends smoke, or if people around you always offer free cigs. (I rarely buy my own packs.)

Keep us updated, I agree that just occupying yourself, and excersizing(i find a smoke revolting after i work out).

I heard a great thing to do is because you're used to going to the store to buy cigs, go to the store and buy a pack of gum. Then chew the gum almost like they're cigarettes...this will help the whole oral-fixation thing. Plus gum isn't bad for you like cigarettes are and it's a helluva lot cheaper.

i wont use any patch of anything... cause they cost as much as cigs... its definatly hard when EVERYONE i hang out with, smokes. there is not 1 non-smoker in my group of friends... its really bad. although, a couple of them, have taken after me, and are attempting to quit since i am. so we dont have to do it alone. that helps to. if you can find someone that doesnt to help support you during this time. good luck flowtation!!!!! :) :)

The best way to do it is Drink a LOT of water, like a lot more than you think you need. Chew gum and walk around a lot, like try to walk all over your city. I knew a guy who was born in 1905 who chain smoked for 38 years, he said he had 1 pack of matches by his bed, he lit a cig when he woke up and put it out when he went to bed, just lit one off the other for 38 years. And he lived to be 98...
