Hey, i got a free vestax 05pro II, without problems (except for broken fader prongs). I spin house, so this mixer is not really needed for me. Would it be better to trade this in for a Behringer VMX-300?

Well the 05 Vestax does cost more, but i guess i would choose the Behringer due to the features even though the Vestax does have a lot better quality

Many of my friends are house djs and they seem to really like the behringer mixer for its outstanding value. My friends althought prefer rotary faders for house mixing as do a lot of house djs, many mixers now come with rotary faders and it all seems to be a matter of preference.

I have had the Behringer VMX-300 for the better part of a year already (it was only released in September of last year), and I'd say it's pretty good, and absolutely excellent for a beginner (maybe even a little overkill). I'd say the best features are the individual volume level meters for every channel, and the cueing flexibility. You have the option of stereo cue (in both cups), split cue (one channel per cup), or a transition with the aid of a knob. There's also an effects knob, "QRS", interesting but nothing earth-shattering. It's certainly useable though - it can make an awesome impression if done correctly.

Quality-wise, I'd say it's fairly adequate, though some of the more frequently used knobs are getting slightly wobbly.

Also, once when listening to a recording I made, I heard slight bleeding during a particular transition - which really pissed me off - but I could never recreate it afterwards. Perhaps I didn't pull the fader all the way down on the other channel. :conf: Otherwise the faders are very smooth and very clean, no hisses or anything. The eq knobs are smooth as well.

Overall, great mixer. I don't have experience with that particular Vestax, but the Behringer is nice and cheap and excellent if you don't have the cash for like a PCV-275 or a DJM-500 or a X:one, etc.
