Umek - Neuro
View this Thread in Original format
phl1979
Umek's first artist album featuring 14 experimental, uncompromising, unaccessible but unique tracks. Far different from his earlier releases but still with the recognizable Umek signature. Techno taken into a radically different direction... what are your opinions?

Umek aint bad, the only 1's i liked was gatex and the 1 played at tiestos set @ nec last april before Vitalic - la rock. I no it begins with a B lol. Anyway... i prefer the much harder techno style with really deep basslines. The umek style is a bit slack if u no what i mean.

Looking forward too it.

Umek have produced a lot of god stuff
Project T
i have gone off umek of recent, they have gone all funky, its like funky house, but technoey lol

Umek is one person with a real name Uros Umek, he's from Slovenia. Neuro is his first real album, although I have another one from his harder and minalistic techno days. Haven't heard Neuro, but I've heard it is great :)

cheers

Not your average electro though. It's more a combination between techno and jungle, hard and fast. It took me a few times to get used to it, but I'm appreciating the album more each time I listen to it. Umek is not only innovating his own style, but the techno genre in general.

it's hard regular electro
the way it should be imo. electro with breaks!

not that 4/4 electro that vitalic and other producers release.
that's more techno than electro

if you listen to other electro artists, for example anthony rother, model 500/m500, dmx krew, david carretta, you will hear the same sound as you hear on this umek album, but not that hard and fast. the structure of the music is the same

so its nothing new or revolutionary in this album by umek for the music generally, but for umek himself, yes, cause as far as i know this is some of his first electr releases (with the exception of the songs in the zeta reticula series)

I seriously don't think techno needs any more sub-genres. there is already enuff arguments about what is and isn't techno as it is.
