I smoked it quite a bit through high school and college. It got to be that i was smoking it everyday at least once, and usually 3 or 4 times. I started to feel dumb and un-motivated though, so i quit.
i have been quit for 7 months now, but i still don't mind if other people smoke it. in fact, i think that it should be legalized. |

| i would say go on legalise it, but im sure everybody knows what happens to people who drink during work, imagine them drinking and smoking @ work, especially if it just happens to be a surgeon doing your open heart surgery or summat later on in life... makes u think |

| Smoked it twice in my life (guess where....JP'S evil city! :p ) found it nice but havent smoked ever since. Then again I havent had the oppurtunity either. The good thing about it, when comparing to alcohol, is that both are relaxing and raise self-confidence while alcohol seems to weaken your logical thinking, make u dumb like a 5 year old at times..as opposed to the weed experience I had where I found myself philsophying about the word "" at machine gun pace..I talked and made a grammar correction of the things said before at the same time..weird :eyes: :stongue: |

over 400 places to buy it :D
Anyway:
-drinking alcohol makes people violent
-weed helps against M.S, eyesight problems, helps eating for people with aids/cancer
-nobody ever died using weed
People should smoke if they want to, but education is important. That's why it should be legal. The taxes can be used to fund the eductation! |

Its interesting to note that the active constituent in pot, 9-THC is actually 20 times more potent than asprin as an analgesic..
if there wasnt such a bad stigma attatched to the drug, there would probably be alot more research being conducted into its therapeutic uses.. |

I did a research project at university by reviewing all the literature on marijuana as an analgesic. In fact I found out that THC and Codiene have a linear correlation for effectiveness in analgesic effect, as duplicated in many studies!
THE PROBLEM: Marijuana produced "undesirable psychotropic side effects" as cited in all the studies.
It is hard to isolate the analgesic effect from the psychoactive properties of THC.
Further research into other cannabinoids contained in weed might hold the answer though.
Personally I think the psychoactive effects are the best part...you?:eyespop: |

well first of all, if a surgeon is doing either, youre ed, they dont just have to be doing both at work.
but the issue here is access and legality. dont you think that many people that turn to alcohol to 'relax' or whatever you want to call it, may in fact use MJ instead - being that there is little physical sickness or hangover afterwards and in general its easier on your organs - esp if eaten? i believe that people would drink less - and the terror people seem to find from people 'working' whilst high is almost funny too.
personally, last semester i used to smoke almost everyday. honestly - im more lazy now then i was ever back then. part of my laziness now is just the reaction to sobriety, and a lack of the ability to relax thanks to 'Yes I Can-ibus!' (sorry simpsons joke)
there is 2 sides to marijuana use, the casual user who often fears the effects of MJ cause it makes them feel 'stupid' after several hits, or the simply uneducated person - smoker or non. THC is largely non addictive, and certainly nothing like alcohol which is more addictive than caffeine, or nicotine which is more addictive than heroin. as JP said, and studies back up, you would have to smoke 40000 times the amount of pot it takes you to get high to have it kill you. drewfactor has a point, and i do agree with him.
the avid user of MJ, whom are actually MUCH more prevalent than you actually believe or want to believe see MJ differently. of course, there is a psychological craving for those analgesic and psychoactive properties, but no physical (see:CNS) addiction like cigs. so they go through ups and downs where smoking 'levels' them out...so basically you have a little smot and youre relatively sober feeling.
sure, it doesnt count as sober, and most people continue beyond the sober point - so there are issues. but on the other hand, people that smoked have performed better in driving simulations that some sober people, and those that were cited in accidents on the roadway often were under the influence of alcohol too.
thats my rant...sorry if its long. basically i think the prohibition bull mentality about MJ being worse for you than alc or cigs has to go...people need to be educated| |

well said bro^^^^^
In my clinical setting at the hospital, the health care professionals seem to stigmatize patients who smoke weed (if they find out) more than those who drink.
I see the effects of alcohol in the hospital through, drunk driving accidents, liver cirrhosis, alcohol induced peripheral neuropathy, diabetes, etc...and the withdrawal from alcohol is terrible, it's called Delerious Tremors and can result in violent siezures...
..yet the happy stoner comes in to the hospital and everyone's like "oh my god, he smells like pot..must be druggie tsk tsk tsk.."
I have never witnessed the bad result of smoking marijuana...ok..it's prolly not smart to get really baked and cruize around or perform important function like if your operating heavy machinery or surgery...
A recent study was released saying that there is no conclusive link of MJ as a gateway drug either. |
