Hi,
I recently aquired Windows XP and I have 2 computers. One of them is using Shared Internet through a network connection. On this computer I want to 'install' Win XP.
I will use the upgrade option on XP Pro so that all the info from Win 98 wont be lost, Windows will simply be upgraded. Firstly does this work properly? Anything I should do?
Secondly if I upgrade the non internet comp to XP can it stil be networked to the comp wth internet even though that one is stil on Win 98? Can internet still be shared even though the 2nd comp is on XP but the internet comp is on 98?
I really need help! Anything else that you might suggest would be of great help!
Thanks in Advance!
Cheers

well windows xp has a network instalation wizard which does it all for you! first run it on the xp machine, then it will offer to copy its self to a floppy and you run it on the win 98 machine

Internet Connection Sharing has a repuation for being a real pain to install especially between different versions of windows. After several attempts at my work i gave up trying! May be worth your while investing in some third party software which may well simplify things
good luck! |

hrm, ive set it up on 3 different networks with each one all having different operation systems and its simple to set up, no need for any 3rd party software that slows down ur comp, unless your a linux junkie then you can have soemfun n games settin up ip masquarading!

| the reason windows xp is not working on your other machine is because you need another client registration for that system. |
