(Here is an email I wrote to many of my friends here in LA. I figured you all might want to know about it as well....)

Hey,

Just wanted to bring this to your attention. Apparently on Friday night, club 1015 (Spundae in SF) was raided by the DEA and ABC under the umbrella of "Operation X-Out", an attempt to rid California nightclubs of Ecstasy use/sales. This happened at Spundae @ Circus in L.A. on Saturday night as well, where allegedly 10,000 pills were confiscated and 25 ppl, including 6 Circus employees, were arrested. The following links provide more detail:

www.cnn.com/2002/US/West/11/22/club.drugs.ap/index.html

What the govn't will now attempt to do is get the liquor license revoked for every "rave nightclub", basically shutting the venue down. No alcohol sales = no customers = no profits. This is probably going to end up being very detrimental to our scene, many if not most of the clubs we attend weekly are going to face the same investigations, if they haven't already. The stereotype of "techno music" and "techno clubs" and "raves" are all being used against us by the govn't, and with great effect. I know that there are huge drug sales & consumption at these clubs, no one can deny or refute that. And sadly this is probably what will be the eventual end of this scene, at least for clubbing. However, Gene La Pietra, owner of Circus & Arena clubs, will be making a statement in defense of his clubs this afternoon. Check tonite's local news broadcast, I'm sure the media will put some horrible spin on everything and make it even worse than what it already is.

Anyways, just wanted to give you a heads up.

If I lived close to the border I'd go to Canada all the time. This whole Anti-"Rave" is out of control. The U.S. government can go itself. I'm tired of all these damn old dying bastards running this country. This country was founded on the principal of giving people more rights, and all the government does now is take our rights away. If I wanna go my own life up by taking drugs then I should have every right to do so, as long as I'm not hurting anyone else. For this country to allow, and make money from, alcohol and tobacco, and yet outlaw marijuana is the biggest piece of hypocritical bull I've ever heard of. I don't even take drugs, but in the eyes of my government the music I listen to is linked to certain substances, so now I shouldn't be able to go out and enjoy the music I love. that. Rant over.

i dont think there areeven 10,000 pills in crasher :haha:

10,000 sounds pretty absurd to me. Assuming this club holds 3,000 people, an average every person there has over 3 pills? Hmmm ...

I saw that on the newspaper today..........

there is no way 10,000 pills will get confiscated at a club..........unless there is a drug deal going on inside the club when DEA raided the place!!

right on!
the government knows tobacco kills many people each year, but they still let it go, becasue it makes lot of money and i guess they say "do what you want to do to yourself".
alcohol has so many drunk driving accidents and so much violence, i don't know why it is still legal, no one follows the "legal" point of intoxication anyways. Why they dont legalize marijuana, i have no idea, that would be a huge cash crop for the government.

these drug raids are upserd...1/4 the e users use in clubs...if they think destroying clubs that play electronic music is gonna help they are wrong...why don't they go to a rock/rap concert and find that at least 2 pounds of weed that are there...that's all i have to say about this issue...america is a bunch of bull i am out of here as soon as i am 18...the U.K. or Europe is a much better place for me
