| you'd think after living in japan for 2 years i would have made it to tokyo, but i didn't:( the only time i was close to it was when i hiked Mt. Fugii (nightmare!). i was living near Hiroshima so i would go there a lot and party. great city. i also love Kokura...my advice would be to just get on the shinkansen and go to the nearest cities and just explore:) go to roppongi district...i heard it's insane. learn how to speak some general phrases like, "how much is this" (can't spell it, but it's pronounced "eecooda des ka")hahahah i try:p also remember in japan it's "Toilet" not "bathroom". they won't know what you're talking about...and speaking of toilets let me know what you think of public restrooms there when you get back;) |

This might be a very stupid question, but is it safe to live i Hiroshima?
I thought the city would be closed down or something after the a-bomb coz of radiation. |

hahha no a lot of people have asked that believe it or not. it is a perfectly safe city to live in...it's like NY city only cleaner:) very big and exciting. there is a little memorial there too that is left over from the bombing and a museum too. it's really depressing to go in there and see all those horrible pictures. i mean, i know they bombed us first but u feel like a piece of in that museum if you are american...
oh yea and sothis, go to the pachinko parlors!!! they are fun if you are into video games and stuff... |

hmmmm, i honestly thought Hiroshima and Nagasaki was abandoned today coz of radiation, you never really hear anything about what happend to Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the bombs was dropped.
Well this tread shouldnt be about this, so have a nice trip sothis. |

its pretty easy to get work here most australians come out here on a three month holiday work visa and work in a foreigners pub where you dont need to know any japanese. i always go to these pubs and tlak to the guys.... if you come check out some pubs callled "sam and daves" and "bar isnt it" they are the main foreigner bars. anys to get the visa i think all you need is to prove you can provide for yourself if all gets ed up so you have to show them a bank statement with like $4000 in it (just borrow it off friends for a day or something)!!!
then once they have come out here they either keep on reapplying for the 3month visas and leave the country to thailand or korea every 3 months for a day (i think you can normally do this 3 or 4 times before customs catch onto whatb your doing) or you can try and get sponsored by a business for work and that means you can get a 2 year or 1 eyar working visa. and your set.
but other wise its pretty easy to get a job its easier if your not in tokyo because they require a higer standard like uni degrees and stuff for english work... but most people work in a bar and then teach english under the table on the side!
on a different note ive been to both nagasaki and hiroshima and they are both beautiful cities!
opps just noticed i forgot costs. yes it is expensive but if you want to stinge it out on money when you first get here before you find a job its quite easy.... you will never go hungry because mc donalds is cheap compared to everything else (of course you doint wanna live off that but when your hungry and ona budget its all good) plus you can find cheap accomodation pretty easy look for business hotels and trya dn shack up with someone in a double room. or backpackers accomidation but they are e ebcause the doors are locked at 10pm. but once you have a job dont worry youll be fine you will easily have enough money to have fun a live (yes i put that in order of importance)
soemthing else that might be of benifit to you or any other TA if you come to osaka/kobe and need a plce to stay for a couple of days my house is your house! (well my apartment is your apartment) |

| I would suggest going out exploring..it's always the best of fun to be on your own in such a vast city..even the flow of the crowd and the shops will be amazing;) |
