hey guys,
im really intrested in learning proper musical instruments and theory then turning my hand to producing... i am just wondering is it possible to teach yourself things like guitar or piano the keys all that or should i seek professional help... i have a lot of determination and if anyone could steer me in the right direction in terms of websites or something that would help im sure i could try and pick it up...maybe some handy tutorials you know off? like ive mucked around in reason and all that but creating electronic dance tracks on reason and all are one thing but understanding music i feel is another i still by no means have mastered reason or anything ive only just figured out how to use the drum machine and the sequencer! but i wanna learn some proper instruments too, and figure out reason :)completely but has anyone here managed to teach themselves a instrument?
if so how did you go about it :D if you can help at all...
thanks :-) |

I know somebody that learned playing the piano and the guitar all by himself so it is possible.... i cant believe i can do it too but if you have determination as you say, than you sure can.

I taught myself piano but I already had a little understanding of some basic music theory (bass/treble cleff, note intervals etc...)
I cannot read music and play it at the same time though, that's the hardest part IMO and only really needed if playing live to an audience.
I learn from original midid piano tracks and slowly learn how to play a song from there. takes me a full week to learn and play a full song fluently.
learning piano takes regular daily practice and each day you slowly adapt to it. playing with 2 hands is extremely difficult so don't get put off when you constantly get your fingering wrong.
my tip is:
buy yourself a yamaha psr keyboard with touch sensitive keys and use the teaching system on that. in the long run the cost would be far less than a real teacher and much more time for yourself to practice on. |
