I think Producing Trance thats good Trance would be munch harder , beat maching is not all the complex its all about timing and practice , Producing Trance requires a lot more skills , You have be a good music wrighter and know how to put a song together , you have to know about programing synths { now thats hard } and I am talking real synths not Fruityloops Rebirth or Reason I talking about the stand alone one and Hardsynths . And you need to be able to use your music programs { Cubase ,Cakewalk ,Wavelab } and to know how to master you finished work . I think Production is a hell of a lot harder than spining . What do you think ? |

i agree with dj pete on that one
i'm just starting to get into producing trance, it's a lot harder than mixing, all it takes is practice though

I don't see how those two can be compared ... producing and spinning are two totally different things with different requirements.
A DJ is a performer who must be able to read the crowd and make them have a good time ...
Producing is more distanced from the crowd and focuses on music itself rather than the performing aspect of it ...
I don't think it can be said that either one is harder ... it isn't a rare occasion that you would hear awesome producers bring out bad sets when they're behind the decks ... |

| That depends on your talents. Some people think producing is 2 complicated, I think DJing is complicated. |

| i think if u know how to do one and the other it will be easier for both... |

| hmm, i've always thought that producing quality trance would be a lot harder than mixing... its true, as a dj your job would be to please the crowd and make them have an amazing time, but producing music to take them on that journey is something special which requires a lot of emotions and hard work... i don't think everyone can produce quality tracks, but i do believe that almost anyone can figure out the basics of mixing and relatively easy become good at mixing... |

Agree. Once you learn mixing, you know it. But in producing, there is so much you can change, and you can never become good enough, you can allways improve. Nothing beats the feeling of standing behind 2 turntables in front of a huge crowd and make them go wild, but producing gives quite a feeling too. After all somebody has produced the trax that DJs are playing.

Good mixing and good DJing isn't the same ... you can teach anybody how to mix in a few days, but the way they mix and what tracks they mix is much harder to grasp ...
Again, i must repeat what I said before, spinning (in front of a crowd) and producing are two totally different things which require a different approach and they can't be compared directly. |

well, the way i see it is, both producing and DJing is meant to deliver a message, to deliver the message, feeling and emotion to the listener, so i think they can be compared... |

| I dunno, I agree with Skywarp - it's like comparing building cars with driving cars. |
